Making extremely large budget high fidelity games just still is only so sustainable. Especially once its PS6 and graphics/ performance reach a plateu level. Physint, Spider Man 3, Intergalactic dope but their install base enough where ideally we see some lower budget or midbudget weirdness that do take risk. Live service is only so needed even people that play only singleplayer games are still playing for plus which gives them a lot of money as well as the cut of sales and % they get from third party live service games like gta fortnite. Even if they dont have their own first party live service game where they would get the largest piece of the pie. Marathon gameplay seems dope but as only an extraction game it was never going to be that for them. Destiny 3 would be their easiest lay up but they laid off the staff
Yeah I hope the PS6 generation will be better than the PS5 one for sure as I did like some of the stuff they did during the PS5 but man they can do better for sure which I hope happens during the PS6 or PS7 generation or else so will stuff not be good for them as they would lose a lot of people/money if they stay been stubborn and won't listen to anybody but themselves or the investors :/
Also... 9 days left now!
Genuinely feel like launch day should be treated like an unofficial holiday.
VI should and likely will have an 80s themed radio station, but the only reason people want Halls & Oates kind of music in the trailers/marketing or to feature heavily in this game is because the previous game set in Vice City had that kind of music. But that was because of the period the game was set in, not the location
They've had 80s music in pretty much all of the GTA games' trailers too tho, at least once (I know they always have multiple trailers each). It's inherent to the "American dream" DNA of the games, at least promotionally. Let alone inside of the games themselves. Even GTA 4 had one like that, and that's the entry most diametrically opposed to the glitz and glamour imo
I say it in the post - realism at the cost of tedium to the player is not good game design. It's a video game, I don't need to spend 8 hours of my 50 hour playthrough watching looting bodies and skinning animals animations because "it's realistic" when the illusion will inevitably be broken anyway when a horse glitches through walls during cutscenes or whatever
Rockstar doesn't need to sell this illusion to the point of inconveniencing the player. Players needing to make sure they equip the weapons they want on Arthur's person every few seconds because Arthur can get ambushed and his horse could run off with his weapons at any moment is not good game design
Horror games like Resident Evil have resource management mechanics that can leave the player ill-equipped for an encounter. That’s not bad game design. And Arthur always has his handguns on his character along with Dead Eye that makes most combat encounters relatively simple

I'd get on a horse. Equip certain weapons to Arthur in case anything happens. After a few seconds of riding, he unequips the weapons automatically. Someone starts shooting, my horse gets spooked and I fall off. I try to pull out the weapons I just equipped but the game unequipped them automatically and they are now gone with my horse that ran off. I have to call my horse back and risk it getting killed so I can get my weapons, hope Arthur doesn't get killed himself until then. Even after doing my part as a player to avoid this situation and equip the weapons I wanted if anything happened, I still end up in the situation - not good game design
The only reason behind this is so that the game can be realistic so Arthur puts his weapons away because he needs to control the horse once it goes a certain speed. The game loses nothing by keeping Arthur's weapons equipped, the game loses nothing if looting is automatic without animations every single time. Resource management in a survival horror is nowhere near the same thing, that's fundamental to how those games function and help create difficulty

Bond with your horse more. It shouldn't be bucking you off once someone starts shooting at you so easily.

When the horse bond is at level 4 so you know Fido stays calm in a bulletstorm

I had the same horse throughout my playthrough, maxed it early. Mfs are ambushing you in the swamp, bounty hunters are randomly shooting at you though. Your horse not standing there static while all that going on, no matter how good the stat is
And it's not only when I'd get thrown off the horse. I'd just equip the weapons, get off my horse thinking it's only been a few seconds since I equipped them, surely the game cuts me some slack. But nope, game already forgot and I have to equip them again, sometimes call my horse back because it already left
It got to a point where I would make sure to check my weapon wheel every single time I got off a horse and every few seconds while riding it. That's not good design, that's an inconvenience to the player

But then you get that cutscene

Man that s*** bummed me out lmaoo. I'm also contemplating if I should do a fresh new game or just do the mission replay stuff. I like John in the endgame but I love playing as Arthur too

I didn't like replaying missions because they give you mid stats
If I have to make sure to equip the weapons I want on Arthur every single time I get on/off a horse, that's bad game design. Idc about "realism" if it makes playing the game a lot more tedious and frustrating than it needs to be. I don't need to sit through a 5 second animation every single time Arthur loots a body because of immersion or whatever
They 100% are doing something similar in this if they mention storing weapons in safe houses and trunks of cars . Not really bad game design if it’s part of the aim of their game is immersion

That second playthrough hits different. I held off on the Downes mission for as long as possible. Micah was sitting in jail for a long ass time too

That's where I disagree. If you're designing a game and you're choosing realism/immersion ahead of how the game feels to play or player convenience, that's the wrong choice. Immersion can only go so far, you're ultimately still making a video game and the illusion will be broken somehow. Whether it's a compromise in some other facet of the game design that isn't realistic or a random bug, players will eventually be reminded this is just a video game. So why bother making your game that tedious, that sluggish, that frustrating to play for the sake of realism

Micah staying in that b**** forever
But I also wanna see Mrs Adler develop into the badass she is
Can't see that without freeing the rat b****** tho
