Will SimpIt's not that. Trevor just isn't funny, likeable and I didn't care much about his story

Niko and CJ weren't good guys but they were charismatic, funny and were fleshed out. Trevor might be the worst protagonist in the series since ClaudeHe’s literally the only character out of the 3 mains that has any humour whatsoever, likeable doesn’t make a good character, you can say Franklin is likeable because he’s so f***ing boring. Franklins story near the beginning has his dog Chop f***ing another dog for comedic relief, so to call out Trevor’s violence as only being enjoyed by immature teenagers, what the f*** do you call that?! You comparing Trevor to CJ or Niko is just proving the point that you don’t rate the other two in GTA V compared to Trevor. If you’re comparing Michael to Trevor, Michael is literally a f***ing rat, Trevor actually has better morals than Michael does AND Michael is by far the most unlikeable because all he does it b**** and moan about his family dynamics. Trevor might be an unhinged lunatic, but at least he’s loyal. Plus you do realise the GTA games have always been mainly toilet humour, showing how ridiculous America is or was in that era. It’s kind of the whole point. The whole game is over the top exaggerated violence, at no point was it ever meant to be realistic with relatable characters.

I brought up Niko and CJ because I don't rate any of the THREE protagonists in V. They're all ass, but Trevor is the worst imo
GTA games have always had toilet humor but are any of the mainline protagonists as bad as Trevor when it comes to violence/being a psychopath? CJ and Niko are criminals and murderers, but they have more nuance and are more charismatic. Their jokes land. That makes them likable. Trevor doesn't have that, so you're left with an over the top psychopath whose dialogue is clearly intentionally written for (shock) humor, but the jokes don't land (unless you find talking to stomped brains on a boot sole or flashing a testicle hilarious)

The whole idea of GTA V was that the 3 protagonists are supposed to be a 3 part dissection of the typical GTA protagonist.
You got Franklin as the prototypical GTA MC, standard rags to riches story that all the titles up until that point followed, you got Michael, who acts as a sort of a sequel character to an unreleased GTA, one who has achieved and lived the endgame state for years, and then you have Trevor who personifies the pure, uncontrolled chaos that the series is known for (going on rampages against cops, mowing down civvies etc.).

Jul 16·1 replyHonestly the GTA V protagonists all have wildly inconsistent personalities that change depending on what the story/mission needs at that moment, I think a lot of Franklin's character as the cool-headed voice of reason is undercut by the fact that he canonically has to kill absolutely tons of people, but I think that's just a consequence of GTA having the gameplay that it does

Certainly funnier than anything you can name from the other two protagonists, is the point. Name a line which Franklin or Michael have that’s better than any Trevor line. You can’t because they’re written worse than Trevor is. I’m not saying Trevor is an amazing character because he’s not written well either, but he’s funnier and more interesting than the other two purely because of the situations he finds himself in. The other two are boring as f***. Trevor’s unpredictability is what makes him more interesting than the other two alone. I would find myself switching to Trevor every now and then just to see what the motherfucker was doing, even though I hated his map area and his vehicle. I hardly ever switched to other characters to check in on them like that because they were boring as f***. Franklin would be at the strip club and Michael would be with his family or doing yoga or some s***. Whereas Trevor would be up Mount Chilliad in a woman’s dress. Not saying that’s hilarious but it’s more interesting how he got into that situation than f***ing yoga is.

“Hurr durr Trevor loyal” is always the only thing Trevor fans have to say. I didn’t say the other characters WERE likeable, I think Franklin and Michael were largely blocks of wood
