i honestly guarantee you if luke didn’t toss the lightsaber over his shoulder the movie/his character would’ve been much better received

Definitely but I think that moment was needed to show Luke was serious about it and really drive the point home. But then for some reason in post they decided to cut the music out there and treat it like a comedic moment even tho Rian said that's not what they were going for, stupid thing to do!

Rian tried to make Star Wars a little deeper than surface level and the fans freaked the f*** out

I like TLJ but Rian did things that were unnecessary. He brought Rey and Kylo together and had them kill Snoke, just to end it how it started anyway

Lol. Finn/Rose subplot, making Poe an imbecile, terrible humor, making Snoke irrelevant, and ruining Luke is making a movie more than surface level?

He made Luke an actual character instead of a plot device lol. Wish JJ would’ve done the same with Rey.

I’m pretty sure at the start of the movie Finn is the one who boulders the TIE fighters and saves the Falcon

Rian did Luke hella dirty and changing his character after all these movies was terrible. Not to mention, Luke tossing his lightsaber was f***ing terrible

That sequence was brilliant. You get a parallel of Vader killing the Emperor, but instead of the redemption scene that we were expecting Rian pulled out the “rule the galaxy as father and son” parallel and made Kylo go full villain. Kylo was the most interesting character in this trilogy by far and he would’ve been excellent as the main villain, but JJ didn’t have the creativity to pull it off so he wasted his character for a predictable and poorly executed redemption arc.

Finn also is the person who literally saved everyone at the end when blowing up the signal didn’t work the first time. He’s the one who knew it was coming from the main ship instead

which reminds me, there's a lot in this film that hints at Finn being FS.

The movie ends where it started. Nobody gets character development except Luke, the one person who didn’t need it. Finn is the same person, Rey is the same, Kylo is the same, Poe is the same

I think regardless of which of the 3 movies you liked or didn't like we can all agree Disney was playing things way too safe with this trilogy

They allowed way more risks with their Marvel properties

Kylo wasn’t the same. He was more unhinged, he had become the supreme leader, and was primed to become the main antagonist of the trilogy. Rey and Poe were definitely fleshed out more as well. I agree that Rian didn’t do much with Finn, but they all should’ve been given more personality since their introduction.
