Only thing I genuinely liked and got me hooked was the whole set piece that went down at that planet with the hippies aliens (C3p0 had some funny scene where he knew too much and they all stare at him and he looks behind him, also later when there’s a shot of baby ugly ass alien laughing audience laughed out loud)

Felt like it was more minimal, grounded and had stakes when Kylo and the Knights finds their location after the faceapp moment

Reminds of TPM when they go to go Anakin and Darth Maul gets to them, dem western influences poppin

I would do Ep 8 a lil different. And the last scene of my version Ep 9 (which would be called The Last Jedi) would be everybody gathered around like the end of Return of the Jedi and Rey sees Han/Luke/Leia force ghosts. The Victory Celebration song is even playing (with some of Rey's theme at the beginning)

Then she turns around and sees Finn's force ghost (the s*** is a tearjerker bro )

saw it at midnight yesterday and thought it was kinda mid, but now it's kinda starting to grow on me. need to see it again soon before the end of the year.

I don’t view the whole Luke “Jedi don’t treat their lightsaber like this”(it whatever the quote was) as shots towards Rian.
Completely possible that was Rian’s whole plan for Luke’s character arc. That it would start with him losing his faith and touch with being a Jedi, to him finding light again and becoming the type of master he should be

So in one movie to another he goes all sad throws light sabers away hides but then the next one he spams as force ghost smiling force lifting spaceships grabbing lightsabers and say f*** fear

you could cut the Finn and Rose plot from TLJ and it wouldn't effect this movie at all

JJ got rid of the horrible Finn/Rose subplot and made Poe not an imbecile

I can see why the critics were mixed on this, they loved The Last Jedi

Not like finn does anything in this movie. Honestly him sacrificing himself in the 2nd movie would have at least been a good emotional moment and a redemption from when he tries to run away.

props to JJ for this but his C3P0 plot wasn't much better

I would watch this over The Last Jedi every time
