TROS sucking doesn't make TLJ secretly great.

TLJ had originality and some good ideas, but the overall lack of direction and cohesion in this trilogy is what destroyed it and TLJ played a large part in that.

The dumb stuff in TLJ was worth being mad about. The film wastes an hour of runtime on idiotic "character arcs" and misguided, conflicting themes. Is it okay to be racist and misogynistic? Absolutely not. But generalizing every individual in the people who dislike TLJ and calling them haters and blaming them for getting this film is literally the problem with Star Wars right now.

Of course they did. The harass everyone. But it was worse with TLJ because there was so much to attack. Disney thought the best course of action was to course correct and try and please everyone, but that's literally the worst possible move at this point.

TLJ isn't good, but TROS easily could have made TLJ better as a result.
