They do it all the time in the prequels and Rey and Kylo do it on the Death Star fight
He is her father they just cut it out
I know but if they cut it then it’s not canon. I’m saying if that’s the introduction then it’s trash. He should have been with her the whole time as her father

George realized that power was op as hell and could've easily solved multiple problems in the later movies so he just never used it again.

Im thinking now about how obi wan and qui gon could've easily ran off with anakin instead of making a 8 year old do the most dangerous race possible for his freedom

My bad then
crazy that it actually might of been better to bring Snoke back and just reveal he’s actually been Plagueis this whole time
Why y’all always say this and fail to provide reasons other than something like “plotholes”
What are the glaring issues
We always assume it's been said before. And worse, sometimes when we say the truth, people write criticism off as being sexist or "entitled." The film is badly composed.
Each character's arc either goes nowhere or is a complete retread of the character's arc in the film before it. Additionally, the pacing in the film is s***, the casino plotline is a waste of time, and the film's messages constantly clashing with itself.
It emphasizes that the past needs to be killed and forgotten (which many people still emphasize), while also simultaneously emphasizing the importance of following blind leadership and following what came before you. It's a mess.
Rian made it hell for anyone to tackle IX considering the changes he made, both story-wise and thematic changes, but JJ Abrams somehow made a larger dumpster fire with this.
Also, yes the lightsaber throwing totally was a comedic moment. When you watch the BTS footage, there are takes of Luke throwing it forward and being more serious about him throwing away his past. It's symbolic and powerful. However, the way the film is edited makes it incredibly noticeable that him throwing it over his shoulder is a gag. It's meant to make audiences confused and laugh rather than sending a message.
The entirety of TLJ focuses on trying to make an audience feel a specific emotion instead of creating natural sequences that naturally bring about those reactions.
