Just imagine being on top of the world and getting a diagnosis like that.
Makes you think man. Makes you wanna beg for mercy.
RIP to a legend who's influence can never be overstated
Funny how this pic looks almost modern again
@op
Bernard Arnault Owns Off-White?..
I hate all the retroactive going at critics, like art will always have criticism, what does that have to do w death.
I never really was a critic of Virgil but if I criticize someones art it doesn’t mean I want them to die or won’t care if they do
Yeah it's kinda messed up to act like somebody cant mourn an artist bc they used to criticize them
Unexpected deaths always make me think of Collateral
"There's people...ten years from now
Same job, same place, same s***.
Everything the same; keepin' it safe.
Over and over and over and over...
Ten years from now? Man, you don't know where you'll be...ten minutes from now...tonight."
RIP
Can’t even lie, the past year and a half, I was curious and critical of some of the designs and redundancy…..and so I’ve been sitting here and feeling like a jackass today. Not because the opinion was wrong or right, but more so because there’s a lot of things Virgil did that were really amazing and really shifted how I thought luxury fashion could be. Even off white, he Def incorporated his background as an engineer into that. I used to think that was so clever. But damn lost track of the good by being disinfatuated by what I disliked the past couple of years. Damn, you never know what the next man is going through. You start to think about certain virgil jokes that occurred past couple of years, and whether they were warranted or not, I admire how mentally strong Virgil was to say you know what let the jokes be what they are, even though he could’ve easily guilt tripped everyone to shut up given the circumstances he was under.
Celebrity deaths and tragedies in the social media age is really something new and strange. I feel like this personally is a teachable moment for me. Like public figures and icons are open for critique but if there’s really something they added to your life, and Virgil Def did that, why not lead with that because that far outweighs whatever you may or may not have been feeling from his output.
I see a lot of people ITT feeling regretful and ashamed of the clowning and backlash he got last year
Don’t kick yourself about it. Art is subjective and every artist has their off day. Virgil was only human and even he wasn’t immune to dropping a dud.
In the long run, his legacy should outweigh whatever happened last year
RIP Virgil. F*** cancer
I mean you have to understand you were dealing with someone who died way before his time and meant a LOT to a lot of kids especially of New York.
So anything involving him was gonna be picked apart to the masses. I'm not defending some of the s*** that was said, but I think because it was of a deceased Pop Smoke that yeah, the scrutiny was always gonna be tenfold that of regular criticism.
You're focusing more on the Pop Smoke part but that was just an example hence why at the start I brought up how people would post Virgils family to s*** on him.
Anyone else who did that cover wouldnt have gotten that same reaction because the reaction he got was the same he got with anything people didn't like of his.
Ye Drake show is about to be emotional man
man the mood is gonna be so somber
i feel like that emotion is amplified around christmas time too
