we should be able to anchor instigators when someone passes away. just a list of people so that this forum doesn’t forget which clowns engage in this.

i think less people would engage if the comments were displayed. hall of shameful interactions 😒

    that’s called cancel culture bro

    mr get dough

I hate all the retroactive going at critics, like art will always have criticism, what does that have to do w death.

I never really was a critic of Virgil but if I criticize someones art it doesn’t mean I want them to die or won’t care if they do

you can critique his work harshly or lightly, but why do it in a rip thread?

that’s like going to a funeral and saying to someone there “yo he wasn’t all that , i’m saying … respect the dead tho. he seemed like good peoples ”

shed so many tears over this. can't imagine who i would be today if i didn't get so enthralled by his work when i was like 14. first time i'd felt that kind of excitement over art. kickstarted my passion to create. realised i could actually do that s***. virgil was really a superhero to me. him + ye r the reason i exist as i am.

thank u virgil for inspiring a generation to express themselves. for always supporting the youth. for sharing your unfaltering vision with the world. an unmatched influence.
    r.i.p to the great.

ye has definitely molded me as a person as if he was like family

the amount of ideas and bad times we got through because of geniuses like this

    I can't even imagine

On one hand I agree s***ting on critics is lame on the other hand critics more often then not nowadays especially get out of hand and become personal with it. People would post his pictures and s*** on his family among other things.

In general the pile on and lies that would be told about him were personal not artistic and he talked about it often so I think it's harder to say "Well it was just criticism" because it was all so intertwined.

If you said "His designs sucks" and people are flaming you that's lame but Virgil was getting worse then that. The Pop Smoke cover reaction is an example it went beyond artistic disagreement people were going at him as a person .

I mean you have to understand you were dealing with someone who died way before his time and meant a LOT to a lot of kids especially of New York.

So anything involving him was gonna be picked apart to the masses. I'm not defending some of the s*** that was said, but I think because it was of a deceased Pop Smoke that yeah, the scrutiny was always gonna be tenfold that of regular criticism.
