He was heavily influenced by Future and all those lean, d*** raps but he had some diversity in some of his subject matter. Mostly love, heartbreak and jealousy and it was pretty clear he had some issues underneath it all. He was young and living a fast life so his subject matter being like 75% about d**** was understandable. Also you have to realize his style he came up made him famous and got him paid. He had a formula that worked and tbh he was just getting started. Songs like Hear Me Calling showed he had extreme potential. Mac wasn’t a different breed and he grew up on niggas like Tribe Called Quest and s*** and he had a extreme respect for being lyrical. Plus music was all through macs DNA. He wa a true musician who could play multiple instruments. He just heard music differently. Both are huge losses regardless bc they had a widespread fan base. It hurts thinking that we will never fully see what either would offer moving forward.
