Doing something new moving forward. Since I've covered a s*** ton of albums from the past and the present I'm gonna move on to doing "Beef History" post every few days. Feel free to post any albums I might've missed, especially non PR albums as I'm not as well versed in that area of the genre. But I think y'all will like these, especially if you weren't around at the time or just like being a historian of the genre... Starting today with...

BEEF HISTORY: Tego Calderon(and co.) vs Lito & Polaco(Pina Records)

-In 2002 Tego Calderon was rising in fame and stature in the genre. He had been at it for a handful of years and was finding his own style the more he made appearances on compilation projects during the late 90s. In 2002 he was already becoming one of the top guys and this year was when he appeared on Eddie Dee's album "El Terrorista De La Lirica" with the song "En Peligro De Extinction". On this track they both send some shots towards Pina Records, which was becoming a dominant force in the genre as a record label--think something like Death Row.

-Lito & Polaco, the headliners from Pina Records, responded with a few indirect shots of their own on the song "Balas Locas" from their classic album "Mundo Frio"

-Tego then responded directly to them on his masterpiece album "El Abayarde", on another collaboration from Eddie Dee called "No Me La Explota". Tego directly referenced the Pina Records duo with the lines: “Un par de puercos quieren lucrarse con lo mío, pero no sirven, por eso es que su mundo es frío”. Referencing L&Ps last album.

-Tego disses Lito & Polaco throughout his classic Abayarde album, including the intro/title track. He also dropped a huge bomb on that same album that would eventually win over the public with the classic song "Guasa, Guasa". Never before had a diss record become a hit. This song achieved that with its infectious beat and Tego's really clever wordplay "Mas monstro que los de Thriller, los mato de lejito como Reggie Miller"

-We didnt have to wait too long for a vicious response. Already in 2003, Lito alone dropped one of the most infamous diss songs in genre history; "Quitate La Mascara" on Pina Records compilation album "La Conspiracion II". Making fun of Tego's African heritage, his looks and his flow/voice. On that same album, the duo made another song for Tego and company called "Los Cerdos". But "Quitate La Mascara" was the one that made waves and is still remembered to this day.

-After this Tego joined up with former Pina Record member Julio Voltio and they landed what would eventually be the knock out blow with Guasa Guasa remix. Another big hit that directly went at Pina and the duo. "Hablando claro, esto es pal Lito y el Pola".."tu no as logrado en 13 anos lo q yo logre en 2 meses". "You haven't done in 13 years what I did in 2 months.."

-Polaco took it upon himself to respond to Tego with one of my personal favorite diss songs and a classic in its own right: Te Tiro Solo", from the Pina Records compilation album "The Company". Unfortunately for Pina and the duo, by this point Tego had outgrown all of them and had become the genres biggest star. Winning the beef in the eyes of the audience. Still, this song was also a hit. To the point where it was just a hip hop diss song that became so popular they eventually made a video and put reggaeton drums on it so it could play on radio. Made some strong points about Tego's influences and his style.

-Tego and Voltio once again got together for the song "Pa Que Se Activen", on the classic compilation album "Blin Blin". From this point on, the beef became more about Voltio vs Pina. But there was one more bomb Tego had up his sleeve...

-Now in 2004, Lito & Polaco release a successful album called "Fuera De Serie" and off that hype they dropped one of the greatest diss songs ever, "Masacre Pa Voltio". Although mainly for Voltio, there is a sketch in the song that makes fun of Tego; where Voltio is scolding Tego for getting him into this mess. Classic song

-Voltio wasted little time in responding over the same exact beat Lito & Polaco used to diss him. Another classic diss record. Who won between those two songs is still a debate.

-Later that year Tego Calderon got on another classic song "El Bueno, El Malo, Y El Feo"(The Good, The Bad, The Ugly) featuring Eddie Dee and the great Vico C. All three of them had had problems with Lito & Polaco at some point and this was the end of all those beefs. Song was a huge hit and to this day Pina admits they were defeated by the combination of Tego's classic "Guasa Guasa" and this collab with Eddie and Vico. One of the genre's iconic songs.

End of Beef. Although there are many other songs they sent shots at each other, I tried making including the most important ones. This is the longest beef in reggaeton history and arguably the best. Had a bit of everything. In a few days I'll do the next beef history
