  • That's f***ed up. Really feel sorry for Reason that's humiliating. Hope this can somehow help his sales when his album drops this Friday

  • NunTheWiser

Tbh though the worst thing about this is Reason no doubt is going to be walking away from this feeling super embarrassed, but this is exponentially more embarrassing for Moose / TDE. Yet moose will walk away feeling like the man, Like this is just such a bad look on their part.

Surely Top doesn't condone that s*** and gonna go off on Moosa. Plus Moosa to me seems like a b**** he's only president because he's Top's son

I’m sick of the site ignoring SiR as one of the best in TDE

He aint drop in 4 years bruh

  • So Illegal

He aint drop in 4 years bruh

Yeah and his album is literally finished and was supposed to drop early 2022 but wasn't released due to label issues

No way he asked them both to name ten Reason songs and they couldn’t 😭 Couldn’t even start listing them off like they knew some .. I’d kill myself bro

Bro lmaoooooo that s*** was rough

  • Aug 8, 2023

Feel like Reason needed to hear that, but airing him out publicly isn't the best look.

You got homies in the room that can't name your s***, a President that doesn't think you're putting out good music, and a label that cans your attempts to release projects due to quality concerns.

    S*** is hectic.

  • Aug 8, 2023

Reason is mid asf. However, this was crazy unprofessional. Should've been talked about behind close doors not on a f***ing stream smh.

I am curious about Zaywop, Q, and Sir. Zay is also signed to Warner I believe. Q is working on a album and Sir was suppose to drop last year but the label been moving it. TDE been horrible with the management.

T Rell should've banged the phone soon as Reason asked if they wanted to go viral. This shouldn't have played out like it did.

“None of the tactics we used back in the day to break Kendrick, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock or Schoolboy would work now. It’s a whole new game. Blogs were very influential back then and I’d have to build a lot of relationships with blogs and now it’s just more about streaming. You have to have the relationships with the streaming sites and it can’t just be a fake relationship.” - Dave Free

Pretty much what Reason was tryna say is he can’t build a relationship and get his name out there without effective label backing, marketing and to stop shelving music they eventually release. Like how he was saying he wanted this album to be EPs years ago

Blog era screwed us all over

  • “Name 10 songs by ____” is such a trap

Theres bands and artists whose s*** I listen to near-daily where about halfway thru that question I’m running out of steam

Meanwhile ask me to name 10 Aerosmith songs, a band I f***ing loathe, and I got you

  • Aug 8, 2023

idk who any of these people are

  • YoungNastyShawty

Bruh what’s going on lmaoooo. I don’t think this is punch or Top but I’m just going by the title. It’s the Mousa dude I think. Nigga this is insane

Both of dem told da truth, Mousa a***ogy wsas realistic, but hey dey gotta have a need to put out thoughtful music 4 da people, da masses will miss it, but what about the people n kids it helps

Blogs were the last semblance of monoculture that we had

Without it, we’re seeing an industry wide struggle to build acts, and get them off of the ground

Getting someone like Reason off the ground without adequate financial backing and support is tough.

Whenever artists vs label convos arise, I’m always more interested in hearing the label’s side of things because there’s almost always more to the story as to why they aren’t letting artist x drop, or why they aren’t pumping more money into artist y.

Also, Reason is independent. The game might be a lot harder for him than others. Doechii is aligned with Capitol.

Not sure what backing they can contribute to their indy artists. Soulo got his numbers through his fan base he built up over 10 years.

soul and reason have the same amount of monthly listeners iirc

They can contribute by allowing the man to release music and support the release strategy he initially had for this same music they are dropping now that they shelved years ago.

Also walking into the room with Top Dawg next to you will at least allow you to be taken seriously in a conversation with a music licenser like EMPIRE

    Unforgivable

Was literally the perfect label with only Kendrick, Q, Soul, Rock, Zay, & SZA

Then Top for whatever reason signed a bunch of artists that nobody on the TDE fandom gives a f*** about lol

It’s surreal how fast that era slipped away they were supposed to have like a real run and the compilation album and a black hippy albums and all that and before you know it that era is just no more

sometimes i think the label problems stuff is a deliberate marketing tactic and then sometimes i think these dudes just wake up and do whatever
