I really enjoyed this article but a few things were off

Also they had Asap Rocky for 2013 instead of 2011 which is crazy. And only having MGMT for 2005 like no 2007 kinda nuts

yea the timeline for some of the rap stuff is a little off, but that music portion at the end of each year is mostly really accurate and has a lot of artists that aren't normally mentioned nowadays but nonetheless were very much apart of the era

Thats just a mainstay of entertainment journalism tbh. General lack of due diligence or too narrow scope of research gathering.

There is an overwhelming recency bias problem in the field, basically since it became a viable product many decades ago. And the modern digital era where deadlines are extremely fast just exacerbate poorly constructed info. This isnt even considering the very new intrusion of AI.

Perfect example is that pitchfork video from several years ago about the history of goth music or whatever that had a lot of bad info and s*** history in it. Then they spent months patting themselves on the back about the awards the video won.
