I get what you’re saying about his fan base but I don’t think that necessarily equates to having a gimmick. His gimmick is almost that he doesn’t have one. He’s not in the media like that, he just drops when he drops and people wait on it and hype it up

I see what you're saying. Let me put it this way I guess. One thing I've always loved about Chris Brown is that he drops often, whether it be free mixtapes, albums or single song souncloud drops. It's pretty obvious he just wants to feed his fans and make music. I just wish more artists did that rather than intentionally dragging out their releases to build hype and I feel like Frank has capitalized on that a lot. Since there are songs that are clearly done and ready to release.

i feel like he doesn't have that one amazing album to put him up there. His projects are GREAT, but idk about a blonde or trilogy level album. You mentioned wildheart and its been a min since i heard it, so maybe i might revisit it again

Kaleidoscope Dream is a gem of an album, respectful of tradition, quietly ambitious, and deeply personal. Start there.

War & Leisure is near 9/10 and it was released in 2017. An album about the threat of nuclear petulance by choleric dictators, the militarisation of law enforcement and its targeting of black Americans, the alienation of societal connections and solidarities, I may add.

Nothing happened. He's enjoying married life though.

I think about this a lot.

As long as conditions continue to worsen, this album will always be relevant, and Miguel will never have to drop another one

I disagree, I think kaleidoscope is right up there with those you listed.

The problem has always been the way he was marketed and image.

He was on bigger than frank and neck and neck with weeknd until he jumped on ol girls head and blonded dropped and bbtm

The internet also was in shambles over Miguel publicly saying he’s better than Frank. Add that “jealous of Frank” perception with the leg drop as things that have been uphill battles for him. Miguel IMO is still the overall king of R&B this era in terms of vocal ability, quality of projects, and having hit records for himself and others. Also since The Weeknd transitioned to pop plus Frank has never repped being R&B and Channel Orange was his last R&B sounding project
