if i got a meeting im reading every paper they mention plus more cus i got twists and im black in stem so theyre looking for me to f*** up
in computer science proofs dont have to be so rigorous, your situation sounds unfair as s*** tbh, UVA is a f***ing c***haven ngl id transfer if i were u cus its gonna be like this forever
i went to unc asheville and i got a 50 on a homework for not putting 1.0 instead of just 1 in one class. them ppl in those white areas are racist as s***. ended up transfering and it saved my life literally
@op sorry for posting so much, im thinking u should transfer to a smaller school or HBCU, somewhere where black people actually exist. it will save u a lot of headache and no one gives a f*** where u graduate from they just wanna know your work experience
i wouldnt mind to
beautiful campus
virginia besides the eastern part is basically west virginia its a bunch of super cacs, not worth it
even their ball team is mostly cacs
come to unc chapel hill the people there are chill
That’s what makes them racist? Lol
it dont gotta be racism necessarily, op could just be ugly as s***, teachers are partial to students with good appearance and personality
Not trolling my grade is at a 69.9 and I need the repoint to boost me to passing. The professor is being unreasonable and I don’t know why.
computer science imo is trash switch to math or stats trust me
spending 3 months writing scripts to solve sudoku puzzles or remembering whether quick sort or insertion sort is faster is a total waste of time and unless u plan to work for google its literally a waste of time. in math pretty much every single thing u learn will be relevant in the future

??? Lol
"Racist Professor at UVA."
"Just to clarify, I'm not calling him racist"
cmon lol. commit to it
True true. It’s just he’s very strange. For example, our meeting was supposed to be about my missing project points and instead he asked me to go over assignments from 6 months ago. He’s strange. He may be racist or maybe not but I still deserve my points for completing the assignment.

I’m going to get my points and then transfer because it’s not fair for me as a student to not receive credit for completing the assignment per the rubric.

yea man ik its a big decision and UVA is a reputable school, i just know in my experience and talking to people who are literally professors, that for us as minorities its hard in non HBCU schools and it really long term is better to be in an environment thats more intimate and where people will not be racist to be blunt lol
also u gotta just know which professors to take courses with, ik for calculus the teachers were night and day, but u learn the same s*** either way so u might as well find the easier or better teachers
Op take a break from ktt2 man. Clearly your mental health needs it
I’m not on here that much.
I just make the threads to keep people aware and informed about UVA. I didn’t know the UVA CS program was this unorganized and unprofessional.

most these posters are not people who would ever even try something like CS at UVA lol dont even mind them, u clearly smart and motivated bro help urself and find a way to accomplish ur goals without dealing with idiots
try and fight it
u worked too hard to get to a D1 pwi and just roll over
there’s gotta be resources/offices at school to help

I understand.
Many faculty members/family members suggested for me to try some HBCUs and I’m in the process of researching them.

Facts! This is what I’ve been saying to my family. They’ve been suggesting for me to drop out or transfer and I feel like that’s the easy way out. The TA made a mistake grading my assignment so I’m going to continue to fight until I get the score I earned.

i also jus wanted to mention, i was a biology major math minor, but i took 4 CS courses, i think CS is a great major if you want to devote yourself to algorithms and lower level coding, i think if u just want a job or just to learn various coding languages it helps to also know something else, be it stats, machine learning, math, engineering, etc, jus make sure u learn applications of the knowledge u learn like internships etc.
cus ik people who are computer science PHDs and they dont even know how to code. that s*** is mostly about algorithms math and statistics, either way those skills are essential and imo its best to focus on math

Thank you. It’s definitely like learning a new language. The teaching at UVA just isn’t consistent and filled with critical grading and insufficient teaching.
Ok so big update everyone.
My professor continuously disputed my concerns regarding the project, insisting that it had been graded fairly, until I cited the rubric to support my arguments. So he finally gave me my missing points.
However, he proceeded to search for old assignments from months ago that had been misgraded by the teaching assistant and deducted points from my overall score.
Essentially, he retaliated against me for speaking up.
