Lack of direction? The music has an identity for sure - whether you like it or not is up to you. There's a consistent sonic direction with the use of horns, tropical type beats, upbeat sunny kind of vibes overall.
If you're gonna argue lack of direction I'd put it more on Quavo than Pharrell. He didn't have too many standout performances. But expecting him to do something way different from what he usual does is expecting too much tbh. The vibes to expect were pretty clear based on the singles and a song like Stir Fry

One dimensional with all the production on here, quavo is boring, features are lacklustre. Stir Fry: The Album means to me there’s no direction other than reheating nachos and it’s worse
