Push music is so fun to rap along to
He’s in that Big lane where he puts so much care into making all his raps phonetically satisfying, such an underrated skill in rap
It’s on streaming services as “Exclusive Audio Footage” It’s apparently their “shelved” debut album from 1999.
I was surprised to see there’s no thread about it and didn’t see it mentioned ITT.
Yoooo that’s crazy
First 6 songs are straight classic worthy s*** then the tracklist starts to get weak imo, Ye was on to something with the 7 track album for Pusha.
I find all of his solo albums have this problem where there's mostly amazing songs then there's like a handful of weak songs we could've done without
yeah all i needed was the first 6 tbh.
I'm always happy getting new Push in general but so many tracks are completely void of the chemistry he's trying to highlight on here. You can't afford for a song like Just So You Remember to feel like a deflated Infrared, and you definitely can't afford for a song like rock and roll to sound like everyone emailed the verses in, and cudi and ye trading blood-curdling squeals.
The experiment of making Push an album artist and not being a "mixtape rapper" already fell flat with MNIMN, where you had 6 classic-tier songs diluted by garbage album-type tracks. They leaned in that direction even more with DBD and failed even harder. Push loses all of his tenacity when he makes compromises like this. Maximizing on brevity is what made Daytona such an electrifying album, and I feel like we only get that in theory for most of the songs on here, not execution
It feels like Push basically had 4-6 great songs and tried to milk an album out of it. He talked so much about how he wants to stay relevant/with the times through his 50s in his recent interview with Charlemagne - I think its fair to digest this album as a graduation from the Pharrell/Ye formula. I'm ready for him to go find a new pocket with Madlib or even an electronic producer like Gesaffelstein. Time to take the Freddie Gibbs career revival formula and create an iconic second half of your career by going indie, and maybe sprinkle a few yeugghhs back in the mix as well
10 out of 12 tracks are absolute heat & are exactly what I want from Push.
am i tripping or does neck & wrist have vocals layered in the beats background saying s***?
definitely felt like that when i played it back again

Agree with a lot of this, but just so you remember being a deflated Infrared seems like an unfair reduction of one of the albums best songs
JUST SO YOU REMEMBER WHO YOU DEALIN WITTT
I saw that on spotify too
I’m getting tired af of artists releasing so many versions of their album. I went on AM and was gonna play a track of new future album. There were 6 new tracks outta nowhere lmao. At least wait a month

It’s sad I know exactly the 2 you’re talking about. Dunno how they made it

I think its sequencing in the album probably hurts the track a lot more than the track itself, I'll give you that

Well not outta nowhere it was literally announced a day before

Labels need to boost those first few weeks sales because it’ll lead to higher sales overall, as opposed to trying to get the average consumer re-engaged again one month down the line.
