Yeah and in a lot of those cases from sample based producers they would never use the stems for a final mix. Anything Madlib and Dilla ever produced for example, they just sent the beat and the final mixes were just 2 tracks, the vocals and the beat. Busta Rhymes said this on Drink Champs, his albums were big budget affairs with Janet Jackson on them but they never used stems for beats from Dilla, it just came straight off the beat tape and they looped it

No More Parties in LA definitely never had stems, Madlib has said he doesn’t keep stems he just exports his mix of the beat and deletes everything, all of Madvillainy was made that way

Now take that information and see that the beat here is a literal loop that has scratching all over it, even through the verses which is very not typical. 88keys said that the beat was originally an interlude on his beat tape and it would make sense for an interlude to have that vocal scratch all over it for just a short piece

One thing I hate about the discourse on here is I can’t ever draw conclusions without y’all saying it’s a reach, everything has to be spelled out and 1000% confirmed for y’all. I have more than enough information to draw this conclusion, this is blatantly a loop from the beat tape with the opening sample and kick added. If you need 88keys to spell that out then I guess y’all just don’t really know s*** tbh
