When I worked towards the city the bus was the better option due to covering gas + paying for parking. A $100 monthly bus pass was the cheaper option. The downside to that is waiting for the bus being late, privacy, standing in the cold during the winter. But the benefits outweighed the cons.
@op the statement
“Public Transportation >> cars” is the equivalent to “you will own nothing and be happy”
you do know, you can own things other than cars?
People in the south prefer being spaced out. Not everybody wants to be bunched up into small ass living spaces.
People saying new york is well designed but paying 2500 a month for 400 sq feet
Isn't the fact people do want to be bunched up the reason those apartments cost so much?
Absolutely not.
Having the freedom to go get some food at 2 am if you want >>>
Being able to pick something up and be back home in 10 minutes >>>
Being able to get coffee or something and come back home in 5 minutes >>>
I am not about to stand out in the f***ing freezing cold at midnight in December for 1 hour just to get some fast food or have to pay $30 to DoorDash a $5 meal
Absolutely not.

What about... walking?
What about... walking?
Not possible in america these bozos dont even have sidewalks often
nobody who has a car and can afford it agrees with OP
I can afford a nice car and prefer taking the tram or subway
I've lived in the suburbs all my life and i agree. Having to drive pretty much everywhere is an inconvenient waste of time and money. Plus these neighborhoods are like mazes full of cul-de-sacs so that adds more distance . I dont want to live in a city though so im forced to drive

🧢 unless you going somewhere that doesn't have parking

I bought my car in cash fam
I’d happily give it up if I didn’t need it every day
F*** I look like walking 😂😂😂😭
Half the reason people drive cars is because they’ve been indoctrinated by old white people in corporate boards to own cars for social status
It’s crazy
Absolutely not.

Yeah fam if we didn’t construct the world around cars and instead sized things down to a foot-sized sale then you could do all of that
does nobody think about these situations
nobody who has a car and can afford it agrees with OP
Especially with the way most North American cities are setup. The convenience of comfort and time saved having a car far outweigh the pros of public transport.

I've stayed in cities like NYC and Chicago where s*** is walkable and that s*** is not it. I still prefer spaced out, drivable cities

NYC and Chicago are barely walkable they’re just compact
If you want actually human-scaled living go to Boston

If you think Chicago and NYC are "walkable" then wait til you see Munich or Amsterdam.

Regardless nothing beats the feeling of getting into my own car and having my own space, being able to do what I want

The f*** does anyone do in their car other than drive and listen to music man this argument has never made sense
