Bruh this some s*** that makes NO sense to me. The 67 bus, the local bus that takes you to Jersey City and Newark Int'l? The biggest and busiest airport in the goddamn state? Where I live at you gotta wait 45-60 f***ing minutes between buses if you happen to miss it. But a bus to New York City has a one coming every 10-15mins.

How in the hell is taking a bus locally to the airport more inconvenient than taking a bus going into New York!?

Americana speedeunning through this thread blitzing on how ideal it would be if public transportation was ideallly funded and functional but it’s not and that’s the reality we are in! Cars ideally wouldn’t be linked to these nasty corps but that’s where we are. Getting around with public transportation and having to wait od long or have s*** cancelled because of a malfunction or whatever else is annoying especially with how routinely it happens for some people in cities like nyc.

I have busses near me routinely just not show up and people who depend on that s*** for work don’t really wanna deal with that over and over but so many do. Makes the commute od long etc.

Yes Public transportation could function better, be cleaner, etc but it doesn’t and it is often slow as f***. People like going places on their on time in their cars. I don’t like this assertion either that people don’t really do much to warrant having a car. Is that what we’re doing out here? Like daily life could use a lot of reform to be more eco friendly but vehicles offer flexibility. There is so much s*** to do that is inconvenient if you don’t have a car. The frequency is sometimes so bad and if someone’s out that day and they don’t have anyone else to cover that route time I think ur f***ed from what some drivers have told me. I be balancing my time and the cost and sometimes I’m luck f*** it Uber it is because I’m not tryna just wait idly for a bus that is on the schedule but on the nj transit app is not showing up and then surprise…doesn’t show up! So why do you think our public transportation is so horrible? I’ve taken the subway in Tokyo and the bullet train in China, and those don’t have the same problems. Surely you don’t think that our current car-reliant economy is sustainable for the planet?

Public transportation would be okay if it was properly funded and good infrastructure was there to support it but reality is its....not the best way to get around. Super time consuming, weirdos around you, people acting disinterested, cramped at times, having to manage your schedule around the bus/train, etc.

bonus points if you have to wait under a super hot or rainy or cold weather, hell no. Used to ride the train to school couple years back and ngl I kinda hated it

I think these are intertwined and separate points. I’m not sure how we go from being classist for disliking public transport to how untenable the fossil fuel industry at large is for maintaining a healthy planet for us and others to live. Until municipalities and citizens collectively restructure funding planning and implementation for public transportation in a way that actually provides nearly equal or better prioritized qualities of transportation as a personal vehicle people gonna stick with their ride. Pt in so many places is bozo and u already have it f***ing up or them mismanaging the money. People get tired of that and want cars to make the literal grind of daily life less time consuming.

On the real tho u might be able to get in contact with someone from nj transit or ur local rep about this (getting an explanation that is, not a solution). that’s a persistent problem that im sure you can’t be the only one experiencing. I wonder if the mess that is transportation at airports is a factor in this.
