Throwing more data at it wont help. We need advancement in architecure and algorithms. That does not require a lot of money.

My take:

If u wanna improve generative models, just play with model architecture. See if swaping node connections or changing weights randomly improves creativity. Ultimately the difference between a AI neural model and a human neural model is the ability to spontaneously change the network structure, and to query the network in ways where youre using subnetworks instead of the whole model every time.

For tasks like image segmentation we need regularization. Add a PGM to the mix and see what happens. The models just need some level of logical constraint
