What’s the difference between an original movie and a movie based on a novel you didn’t read
Original movies have freedom to do whatever . No established fanbase they can disappoint . No one saying it’s too faithful or not faithful enough. People read some books say blockbuster . It’s a different level of enjoyment to see a new fanbase start no pretentious “ this didn’t happen in book “. Even s*** I’ve loved like cloud atlas I read book after . World war z I read first and never saw movie . Ready player 1 I read first then was disappointed by movie . Movie still solid but missed some of soul of book
It’s nice to see properties beholden to no one . Video games and anime just starting adaptations and could be better .
screenwriting but bout to venture into directing too
I watched the Aaron Sorkin screenwriting Masterclass last weekend. Kinda trash but kinda interesting

Does Project Hail Mary really have a “fanbase” like that. Sure, there’s a lot of people that love the book but it’s not like you’re adapting Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings
it's not about me, man. it's about the state of the industry. ???
This just feels like a really odd target to rant and bemoan the death of originality in Hollywood
"rant and bemoan" lol. I posted a tom n jerry gif.
original is original and adaptation is adaptation. they are all examples.

Well you did get “mad bitter” about what seems to be a good movie having been made.

Yeah nothing really new, they just call it different s*** “intention and obstacles”

This a fact that’s why they have “best original screenplay” and “best adaptation screenplay”

hey now, whats with the "mad bitter" part
that feels offensive
:\
Original properties are good so theaters aren’t just filled with books , comic book movies and adaptations. This isn’t a complex idea that needs to be argued for hours nor is it hate to the success of books

Brother Wizard of Oz is a book adaptation. Hollywood was built on this. Why are we acting like this hasn’t been happening for 100 years

And they are still milking wizard of oz to this day splintering into plays and more content
I again said ORIGINAL STORIES ARE IMPORTANT TO ALL MEDIUMS AND ART ITSELF TO ME
They should’ve done better with designing the logo and marketing. Makes it look like some cheap sci fi comedy slop
forgot that this account existed. dude is a certified nutty nutjob
