How many times do you think it was brought up in their group chat
Why would Hov know about this illustrate the process of him finding out
Lmao
Jay-Z owns ROC Nation. it could have gone like this
Desiree Perez, CEO of ROC Nation: Hello Sean, how do you feel about us attaching Roc Nation’s brand name and backing this scholarship fund at LIU? it’s a local Brooklyn university. would be great for press and to help the community you’re from. also probably won’t cost much, they just asking for a studio and scholarship money for a few students yearly”
Jay: that’s great Desiree, you have my approval (just make sure we don’t get any bad press from it and if we do keep me in contact so we can get it sorted out immediately)
cause this is how business works. the owner of the company is always aware of any business deals that happen as they have to approve decisions that call for the corporations name that is owned by him and is part of his legacy/namesake, unless physically unable to like if Jay was sick. it would be bad business for Jay-Z not to keep up with his CEO’s business dealings and to also not answer as to why these students are faced with these difficulties. Also if you didn’t know, Roc Nation operates Live Nation’s artist management for performances, so he DEFINITELY has the money.
this isn’t your local club hosting a Roc Nation night and playing a playlist of Jay-Z music. this is Jay-Z and his business partner signing off to endorse a scholarship with his business name attached to it not answering why the business side was mishandled and these students had to foot the bill
So you’re saying he’s actually a s***ty business man with no business acumen whatsoever and just flippantly lends his name to anyone and everyone who asks to use it without questioning what is being done with it at all?
Now that I’ve actually read the post over lol
How does the school’s president claiming to be affiliated with Roc Nation have anything to do with Roc Nation or Jay Z? Lmao she was the only person who promised the student anything and then the person who cut the student off
@insertcoolnamehere @glockglockglock
“ LIU President Kimberly Cline “
@op just want a hit thread man lol

Except in your little movie script here you don’t explain how Desiree or Jay has anything to do with the schools president just randomly using Roc Nation/Hov’s name with no official link to Roc Nation lmao
LIU President Kimberly Cline Was who was texting her and then subsequently who told her to f*** off lmao
What the F*** that gotta do with Roc Nation Desiree or Hov lmao
Niggas just overeager to attach some MORE bullshit to Hov without even thinking about it logically. Look at y’all man 😭

Because if she wasn't affiliated with Roc Nation they would have sent a cease and desist immediately like any big corporation would do cause once again, that's trademark. You have to get the ok in order to use said trademark. So at the very LEAST, Jay or Desiree would at least known the existence of this Roc Nation program at LIU considering, it's using their name.
If Kimberly Cline was to do what you're insinuating than that would be risking fraud which is something no president of a college (I'd HOPE) would want to have on their jacket.
The fact the kids already were able to talk their 25k debt down into 5k means that something slipped in the chain of command. You can't be mad that the boss/secretary of the organization (who I'm 110% positive at least knows of the program's existence) is also put into that dilemma because again...he's the boss.
Any "positives" Roc Nation is behind (like that percentage of stake in Brooklyn Nets) he rushes to take credit for that, you also gotta take credit for the "negatives" too, that's how business works.
we putting standom over business. I can't wake up tomorrow and say "yo fund the Roc Nation strip club in Harlem" post on social media tomorrow or try to LLC that cause I didn't get approval to use their trademark or even permission.
Cause once again, the only reason these kids even took this program was because of the "Roc Nation" brand attached to the LIU school.
they’ll get away with it. a lot of scholarships come advertised to students as free.99 but they still be charging
they be on some mafia s***. yesterdays price is not todays price. and that was last years scholarship. new tuition increased not covered.
if it’s 26 for years it’s not that bad. i was in a similar situation kinda and ended up with 15
idk the details tho maybe they are liable but i doubt it
sounds like a justifiable lawsuit, that's f***ed.
you would be surprised tbh
Well I mean no one here assumed that would be coming out of Jay’s pocket right? That’s not how that works. Whoever was in charge of making sure the funds go to LIU to cover the scholarship certainly wasn’t Jay. It’s a bad look tho

i bet you could hit a quick lick with that strip club idea tho
Idk what yall arguing about. Hov a bum but the scholarship was free tuition not free room and board.
School just misled them in the advertisements
