no, mox beat him and then he beat mox a few days later. The angle was based off of Rocky 3. He didn't want to take a bump when he first injured his foot which is why the angle was condensed, he injured his tricep in the match he beat Mox in.

He was right to tbh. Mox had been running through damn near everybody that whole summer. I always said it woulda been dumb af for him to lose right off the bat to a just returning punk. What they ended up doing wasn’t perfect but it makes more sense as a quick countermeasure I guess

he's the ace of AEW so no reason why he shouldn't tbh. Also not like he was burying Punk either, just wanted to do something interesting. Main problem was the foot injury and the fact they rushed the angle, don't know if they should've kept Punk out longer and just had the second match at a later ppv. Would've allowed them to tell the story properly.
