Damn bruh I'm going to SDCC next week :-/

Go get some comics, cop some collectibles, walk the floor. Also go to the Spider-Man 2 panel. It’ll still be a fun time

  • Jul 13, 2023

So studios can still make movies wit non WGA & SAG members

I wish big name actors would work with the writers and fund smaller projects but I guess without studio backing to distribute they wouldn’t do it

DGA looking like some clowns right now.

TBH I think this will still be a great year. Plus I have made tons of friends there over the years that I'll get to spend more time with too. Hopefully I can make it into the Fandom and IGN parties cuz that open bar is always fun af.

Why do you think so many of the big movie studios pulled out months ago?

Now it's really a comic con. It's original purpose lol

True but I was still hoping to meet Ayo at a party

You're right, I would completely take advantage of this situation too. F*** em. What if this strike ends up making some breakthrough movie/tv stars? That would actually be dope.

What if studios pivot to minority leads? how will minorities who are part of the WGA-SAG start to feel I wonder? Like on some blaxploitation era s***, and the movies/tv shows that come from it make some kinda renaissance

  • Jul 13, 2023
    Mac Wit Da Cheese

Or we start seeing more musicians, Twitch streamers, and YouTubers in movies/shows

Oh definitely. When the WGA first went on strike, the way people like Charlamagne were talking about podcasters/content creators leveraging the content they make to the TV networks. Charlamagne is apart of the WGA too and he’s saying this nigga got so much blow back behind the scenes came on the next pod to clarify that he supports the strike, and voted for it.

But I been peeped, Charlamagne and those like him are pro-establishment, and a staunch capitalist. But if you peep how he talks he leans in favor of studios, and executives

The audacity of making $27 MILLION a year and handing out residual checks less than $500 to the people who made you those millions and saying their demands are unrealistic

This greed s*** is going too far lmao, would it really hurt these corporations to budge to the demands? These execs are braindead

It would not hurt the studios at all to give in. They would still make net profits.

But the studios are playing the long game to try and embrace AI to cut corners. And just as bad, they're all choosing to embrace the idea of getting rid of content entirely to reduce giving out royalties (after WB did it for tax cuts).

Both of those things cannot be allowed to happen in a world where cinema is people/worker driven, so the guilds are rightfully upset and wanting guarantees to avoid that s***.
