look bruh life under russian rule sucks D***. Most of Latvia's existence has been just passing between the hands of different colonizers. We just got our own independent state a little over 100 yrs ago, only to get dismantled by Stalin like under 2 decades in. There are ppl alive right now who are older than Latvia.

point being, for some countries, radical independence and sovereignty isn't really even feasible. If the closest thing we can get to that is through alliances w NATO and the US then f*** it man we r gonna take it. Under Russia life has historically really really sucked. and that would likely continue to be the case if they took over again.

there really is no "it depends" life is better as an independent state even if that means close ties w US and NATO

im just saying whats the point in singling out ukraines racism when russia, the US. china and everybody else has racism issues unless youre doing some sort of "they deserve it" thing?

because again, i wasnt saying any of this, i was quoting someone else - agreeing with them that racism is literally everywhere and they were quoting taking down russian signage from US in areas... nothing to do with ukraine, nothing to do with busses, nothing to do with anything your posts have been talking about

It depends because Ukraine for example was doing way way better under the USSR than since after its dissolution and their disastrous capitalist restoration

Russia isn't what it used to be anymore tho so integration into the Russian Federation (which won't happen anyway) would not get the same results
