the video of that tank driving into a civilian car was first reported as russians. then as ukranians. then as russians pretending to be ukranians.
those soldiers on snake island were reported as heroes. now reports saying none were killed and that they were brought to Sevastopol
everyones just posting unverified tweets confirming their own bias and making assumptions and coming to conclusions of what they want to be true rather than what is true

It was a grassroots movement that got coopted by the US to fit their own agenda to install a leader that changed the country to take a more pro-Western course, Yatsenyuk was already appointed to be the new leader by the US as was apparent by the leaked phone call of Victoria Nuland.
A majority of Ukrainians actually opposed the protests according to polls in january.

I think showing solidarity with a cause you agree with is understandable and I don't blame anyone for it, but for real though people need to not be glorifying war as if it was a fandom for entertainment. If you go on places like reddit or twitter (or even throughout this thread earlier on), there are posts like "this ukrainian KILLED 50 russians! how many upvotes can we get for this HERO?" - like don't get me wrong, strength and resilience are worth commending in the face of adversary but the commendations should be on the bravery of standing up for a cause, showing leadership, stepping up to the plate, etc. What we've seen instead is people glorifying this unrestrained bloodthirst.
I can't believe people even need to say this, but War is not a simple situation of angels against devils or superheros against supervillains. This isn't tribal warfare where battle is for the glory of the people. You can celebrate when the crooked politicians and oligarchs who have destroyed the world and acted as vampires on the livelihoods, economies, and cultures of the countries they're embedded in are overthrown. Let's not be treating the deaths of citizens, many who are only there out of necessity, misinformation, or fear, as if it was a Marvel movie. This isn't faceless mobs from a call of duty game being mowed down, these are all real people with real lives.

This should've never happened but Putin is a crazy idiotI completely agree and I don't blame anyone for supporting ukraine and i hope people don't get that out of my post. It's just that the same way people should be disgusted at propaganda that came out during america's wars like "this man sniped 50 muslims in iraq, what a hero", the support should be placed on cause and not on the bloodshed. even on the side of the "enemy", people shouldn't be reduced to faceless mobs to be dominated, these are still humans and they aren't the ones who caused this ultimately. i'm not saying that there aren't rabid nationalist bloodthirsty russians fighting ukranians rn, but there are even reports of surrendering russian soldiers, and i'm sure many of the soldiers are young, misinformed, and scared. war is ultimately a tragedy even when it's a necessity (on the end of ukraine), and people should be glorifying other aspects than things like body count or murder
