the rhetoric around russia is insane in the US and has been since Obama. I wonder if most people even realize we have a free trade agreement with Russia and they've had MFN (most favored nation) status for trade since literally immediately after the fall of the USSR (1992). Mainstream liberal views on Russia/East Europe are literally just repackaged racism. You had people like Keith Olbermann under Trump saying his Russian heritage was a "black stain on his bloodline" and like MSNBC legit shaming russian expat communities in Long Island for districts being republican leaning saying it was proof that Russians intrinsically couldn't be trusted. On blue checkmark lib twitter they literally don't even think eastern europeans can think for themselves and basically treat them like inhuman demons. It's not even just mainstream news. Have you seen Breadtube rhetoric around East Europe/Russia? The mainstream media doesn't even have to do its job when you have liberal faux-socdems and anarchists foaming at the mouth saying they want to kill Russians because gay marriage isn't legal there or some stupid s*** and that being a clear reason why the US needs to liberate them. This s*** is beyond insanity.

ive posted a lot of the takes if you go back far enough in the cursed thread as when i see especialyl egregious stuff i mirror it there.
most of the takes are from vaush/contrapoints/adjacent circles - like 99% boil down to "gay and/or trans stuff is illegal there therefore i will sign up for war and hope NATO topples their government". Pretty sure Vaush was legit word for word saying he hopes the US topples all of eastern europe because they're more fascist or something.
