i don't think its really about who's "winning" vs what the knock on effects are. the initial a***ysis by most people was just like "ukraine disintegrated on arrival and russia won immediatedly, the west is just lying". clearly that didn't happen and wasn't the case, it's been basically a year - for reference it took the US like 4 weeks in Iraq against Saddam, and while what the US did was a complete farse and a spit in the face of the country and the entire middle east, it should have been less apt of a comparison than here where Russia is right next to Ukraine and supposedly is one of the biggest military powers in the world. Regardless of foreign aid or not, you don't have a mass conscription for an easy victory you don't even have to really believe the media propaganda stories about reactions to the conscription.
If anything this is as bad as the US in Afghanistan, but compressed from a multi-decade embarrassment down to a several year period. Obviously in terms of land mass Russia will likely walk away with Donbass and Luhansk, anyone in the western media who thinks this isn't the case is delusional. However it's just as delusional on the other side to think Russia themselves didn't massively overplay their hand here. Obv the sanctions didn't really do s*** but hurt europe (lol) but nah thinking Russia isn't taking heavy losses themselves rn is just wishful thinking from anti-NATO people. i pray NATO dissolves tomorrow but russia steamrolling the country is just objectively not what's happening, western ghost of kyiv propganda aside
