Russia is a beautiful country with a beautiful culture and beautiful people

It's a shame it constantly falls under tyrants. We need to offer them sympathy

It won't happen but if unrest breaks out in Russia we should offer them a Marshall plan and build their institutions to last, Russia integrated into our order would be phenomenal

The USA had to rig the 1996 elections so Yeltsin wouldn't lose to the communists

    Nah it's not that simple

It was never a client state but initially Yeltsin tried to aggressively westernised and kt failed. The West should have helped more, but mistakes happen

After 96, and the near loss, yeltsin began to move in a more decisively Russian nationalist direction, taking on generals and figures more in favour of re expanding Russia

Putin wasn't really the wests 'boy', he co operated in Afghanistan and Iraq but overall the west just left him be as they figured it works for russia and they're not gonna do anything crazy

Putin is the direct result of Western destabilization and de-industrialization of Russia but keep coping

As are all the oligarchs, half of which upheld your city's wealth for years

Well ehhh no not really, there's way more to it than that. Many countries moved like Russia and didnt become oligarch quagmires. Putin was internally selected by United Russia as he could kind of steer the boat.

How come Poland doesn't have oligarchs? It has problems but they're fine. Maybe also the Russians should have been better at policy

And I agree, they need their s*** seized. Man wants an apartment. We've let the pigs benefit from our system for too long

Look up the top 10 richest Poles and see how many started with state businesses privatizing moron. They have plenty of oligarchs, it's only that you hypocrites don't care for it because they are on your bloc

Clearly something must have been different about Russia that it went down this path when so many post soviet countries turned out quite well

What's the difference? It surely isn't just the west. Altho we should have Marshall planned them and turned them into an ally democracy

The state sold it and they bought it. You can disagree with this policy, but the difference is in Poland the richest poles ain't in bed with a dictator backed by a nearly 100 year old military security apparatus

It's a much fairer democracy than f***ing Russia

Simply having people who git rich off privatisation doesn't make you like russia. That's a special case of f***ery
