you are making the common mistake of conflating fascism with authoritarianism. Which the US still largely isn't but is closer to being than actually being fascist.

    Authoritarianism/“freedom” isn’t a real political spectrum

All states function on the basis of superior authority

    The definition of fascism

    1. “Cult of tradition.” Yes. American nostalgia and revanchism is a core tenet to half the country.

    2. “Reject of modernism” yes. America is notoriously anti-intellectual and once again half the country is in rejection of “globalism” or whatever

    3. “Irrationalism; Action for action’s sake” definitely. How many performative Americans are out there who are actually detracting from causes they support

    4. Disagreement is treason. Yes, both amongst democrats and Republican Party supporters

    5. Fear of difference. Yes

    6. A frustrated middle class. Yes

    7. Obsessions with a new world order. Yes

    8. Pacifism is complacency with the enemy. Yes, see even the most liberal D-party members attitude towards Ukrainian-war policy.

    9. Elitism, contempt for the weak. Yes, integral to American pop culture

    10. Humiliated by wealth. Yes.

    11. Heroism is a norm. Yes.

    12. Machismo s***culture. Yes

    13. Esoteric newspeak. Yes, we can see it in the 4chan alt right who use stupid words like based and pilled and trad and doomer and soy and this and that

Youre right. Broken clocks are right twice a day. I'm not seriously going to say the Soviets weren't right to want to beat the s*** out of the nazis. Whether they had self interest in doing so is a separate matter but a good thing is a good thing even if done for self interested reasons

Yes that was awful. The brits obviously committed to defend Poland cause they were s***ting themselves

Wanting to take out the nazis to gain power in Eastern Europe(soviets), to protect your foreign colonies and geopolitical primacy (Britain) and to gain a captive market (America) is self interested all round, but it just shows how undesirable and evil fascism is thaf every other major oppressor wants to eventually kill it

Lmao what? The Soviets wanted to defeat the Nazis because the Nazis wanted to genocide them and kill communists all over europe, not because they wanted to "gain power"

The definition stands. America is fascist. And honestly I’d argue the majority of country is fascist and not just half of we look once again to the cult of tradition

We have a sense of civic religion where there is an uncritical and somewhat deranged dedication to a 250 year old system that was built on compromises between slaveowners. There isn’t even a motivation for this other than unwavering nationalism and an entirely illogical attachment to the existing system

Biden is not a social liberal in any sense to say the last

But the governing class isn't fascist. I'll agree there's a good chance the pseudo-fascists on the American right will take over in the next 20 years

The governing class is pretty openly the elite and wealthy class. American capitalism is currently in decline, and it is creating social issues domestically that are leading to labor movements and unrest as a whole

How do the wealthy elites protect the system? By defending it violently, just as they did in the 2020 protests, just as they did in the Occupy protests, just as they did in the Civil Rights era, and just as they did in the labor rights movements in the 1900’s

And to describe them as “pseudo fascists” would be an understatement. German and Italian fascism explicitly cited American concepts like corporate paternalism and manifest destiny as the basis for parts of their ideological tenets

America has simply lost its place in hegemony. We are already in fascism

Yes they did, but they had a geopolitical interest in expanding into Eastern Europe. Would the Soviets have behaved the same way if the germans wanted to genocide and enslave the French?

Unless you claim that the post war imposition of communist, USSR aligned governments in Eastern Europe was also an act of self defense ljke that, the USSR was still a great power with ambitions.

This is so far removed from reality. Capitalism is in decline? The elite violently responded to the 2020 protests? What is this based on? American hegemony is still alive and well.
