The language laws are f***y but they're nowhere near the oppression that warrants an invasion. Especially cause they don't even ban the language, they mandate Ukrainian being used, don't ban the speaking of Russian. Bad but hardly hitler

I never said they warrant an invasion, but they're worse than what Russia now may be doing in Crimea to the Tatars

No one is banning Russian language, big percentage of the people speak in this language in regular life in Ukraine. Law is about national language that should be used in government agencies, service industries, schools — and it’s like that in a lot of the countries.

About 8 years: I personally know a lot of people from Donbas — it was never like Ukraine bombed their side just for the sake of it, most of the time it was provocations from the russians, frame-ups and fake-ups so there will be a “reason” to start a war. But because Russian propaganda is really strong and intensive people always came up with these arguments and believe that it’s Ukraine bombed their own territories. Besides that, separation of the territories has never been carried out through legal referendums in compliance with all norms.

These “arguments” that you wrote mainly used by their propaganda to brainwash their people so it’s sooo f***ed up to me to see it being used on the foreign forum tbh..

No it's not, it's about service workers being obliged to talk to customers in Ukrainian as well, even areas where 90% speak Ukrainian as their first language.

how is that fasсist dweeb? russian language wasn't banned, this law supports ukrainian language. you know what quota policy is right?

you don't know how it was before even to state things like that. in 80s the host of famous ukrainian kids show was openly called nazi only for running his show in ukrainian and eventually got cancelled. happened literally in kyiv. in many regions it was practically imposible to find cinema with ukrainian dubbing before mid 2000s. many elders raised in soviets called everyone who spoke ukrainian nazis and went away with it. most people knew both languages, but many of them prefer to speak russian only because ukrainian is "considered" for peasants. soviet education you're so fond of

ukrainian culture was always opressed by russian for all last centuries and it's not even comparable. but tell us more about fascist policies

for service industry ukrainian is initial now but if the customer wants to have a converstation in russian, he could have one

and what fascist about learning your own language and being not ashamed of it?

Theres also ample evidence of actual persecution of Russians in Ukraine, which people haven't mentioned

The odessa fire springs to mind. Ukrainian paramilitaries absolutely committed atrocities there. I'll put the cards on the table and acknowledge it rather than denying kt

Yet the issue is any discrimination against Russians does not warrant lies and invasions.

    In fairness

It compels individuals to speak in a way they may not want to

Fascism is a loaded term I'm weary about applying but you cannot force people to do that and claim concern for liberty

    It's OK to admit shortcomings

it wasn't that simple. there were hella provocations which led to collision of both sides. motivation of some paramilitaries still remains unclear and could be not pro-ukrainian if we're adressing shooters. there were also people from russia, like in dnepr. and if they succeeded, it could be another quasi-state OPR.
