I don't buy into the idea that he thought this would be the equivalent of a 4 game sweep when even YouTube a***ysts were breaking down how this wouldn't be a quick affair months in advance. Either we believe that delusion of the highest order is the dominant narrative in the highest spheres of command in Russian military, or there's something that we're missing.
Only committing roughly a third of his military to the invasion and not doing proper combined arms warfare is also curious, but that at least has pragmatic explanations (saving the bulk of his avaliable troops and not revealing the genuine depth of tactics in case NATO involves itself militarily)
I don't know, I think he really believes some of the BS propaganda that putin feeds the citizens in his country. Even with the full mass of troops around the borders, he does not have enough forces to subjugate a country of 44 million, so he was delusional going in IMO
But yeah agree with you on the point it was odd to not do the invasion and use forces in phases, also, no massive cyber attacks etc.

Beginning of the Arab spring there was lot attention in media and international support for opposition and condemnation for reigning regimes. But your correct it doesn’t compare to the war in Ukraine. The nature of the conflict and it’s implication are different and obviously there’s a racial component.
…But Bashar Al Assad is still shelling his people and he’s been doing so for damn near 12 years. It’s crazy these guys will kill how ever many they need until their conditions are met.

-in a neutral Ukraine scenario, they want security guarantees from Russia as well as NATO
-wont cede any land
