rozcoI don’t know why you feel so confident in saying that. Obviously I hope I’m wrong but if they had no interest in escalation they would have been very direct about that. Of course they’re going to say they would like peace talks, that’s the diplomatic thing to say.
If they want to invade Taiwan, which they do and will eventually, an escalation in Eastern Europe would be incredible for them.
You’re somewhat right in that they want distraction in the west but China is playing a longer game than that
The current state of affairs means Russia will become more of a satellite state and less of a strategic ally once their economy implodes and they’re a total pariah to the west
An escalation means the loss of Russia to the west and a cutoff of that potential for China .
With Russia in China’s fold as a result of the status quo they can happily reignite another war down the line when NATO hegemony is far weaker and the third world is more developed to assist their efforts in Taiwan
