That thread about how Russians are supporting it is very weird. First of all it's like one poll that shows 70% of Russians support it, and as we all know, Russia doesn't exactly have much freedom of press, 88% of Americans supported the invasion of Afghanistan, I don't think that would justify sanctions that would affect working class Americans the most, especially if it those sanctions don't even work. Like let's be clear, if you're concerned about Russian nationalism (which in itself isn't unreasonable), the last thing you want to do is impose sanctions that gives Putin a foreign scapegoat.

I’m also thrilled that Russia has made the decision to block Russian citizens from being exposed to all of this Ukrainian propaganda from around the world, and is actively arresting citizens for even speaking of such bullshit. Also that rhetoric about how individual Russians are responsible shows exactly what I said before. This new Cold War lacks the same ideological battle that the old one did and people at either side no longer see the one at the other side as victims of an oppressive system, leading to people not having the same warm feelings for those on the other side.

This is just a straight up inter-imperialist conflict, and as all inter-imperialist conflicts, they will bring out the worst kinds of nationalistic vitriol, even among more liberal minded people who would usually disavow nationalism in most cases.
