Putin has made quite clear that he doesn’t give a s*** about mending relations with the West. He knows being sanctioned out of the current system is a necessary struggle on the way to his goals.
He wants to be the architect of a new system and cares little for the people that are harmed in the process.
You have to be in total dreamland to think that making everything easier for him is the better approach.
