There is no way to be 100% sure without worry that any conflict between two nuclear nations will escalate into nuclear war. In other words, there's a nonzero chance that the US can enter a conflict with Russia and we don't all die.

Yeah I can't look into the future jeen-yuhs but the chances are high enough and the consequences are devastating enough (extinction) that it should be avoided at all cost.
