    The “I like Drake with the melodies thing” in like 2012 made sense, like there were def were casuals who loved TC r&b songs but thought his raps were corny

    Today tho it’s a performative take lol. His rapping is leagues better now and there’s a reason why Iceman/HL were more successful than non-rap heavy projects this decade

    He’s a way better rapper than singer imo

    He has good melodies and writing but his singing voice has been deteriorating for years and the autotune doesn’t flatter his voice

    Some people sound amazing singing with tune on I think with him autotune makes him sound flat and robotic. If he was solely an R&B artist rn he’d be good but I don’t think he’d be among the best.

    His rapping however has gotten better and better to the point that he’s really deserving of all time great status off raps alone. I’m a Hov stan and I’d be hard pressed to find a Hov verse better than Make Them Pay Make Them Remember or Firm Friends. Like from a pure rapping standpoint him being in a box with Dot and Cole is completely valid, and there are many things he does better than them as a rapper

    My lyrical Drake playlist that included all of the songs he RAPPING rapping on is like 5 hours deep lol

    That’s longer that Biggies entire career of music lol

    Yeah exactly my view on this as well. "Singing Drake" absolutely peaked to me early in his career and I don't think Habibti/$$$/etc. are anywhere near Take Care as far as R&B tracks.

    But rapping wise? Iceman is S Tier stuff, easily goes head to head with IYRTITL era rap Drake for me. Might even be better tbh
