I’m not following the convo fully, but Iceman might be Drake’s most thematic and narrative driven album, even if you think the theme/narrative is bullshit.

Loool, they're the exact same thing.

One just has a forced homonym while the other doesn't.

    Artery, vein, heartbeat
    Iraq, Dubai, Middle Eastern

Not the exact same thing, those Drake bars are as deep as it gets. You hear it once, you catching it. Those Jay-Z lines have this wordplay, plus flipping "Bane of my existence" and tying it to Gotham. You missed some of this while trying to critique it

Not saying that's ALL of the bars on Iceman, there is some clever writing But a lot of it is bogged down by these silly lines that you won't hear Jay-Z spitting

Loool, Jay Z has tons of silly lines.

    You're 100 percent right.

I wouldn't have gotten into this conversation of he wasn't trying to use Jay Z lines to bring Drake down.

I don't like either of them but facts are facts.

This convo started because someone said rappers like Lupe/Freddie Gibbs would be impressed by the rapping on Iceman, I pointed out some of the bars I think are weak on Iceman, he asked me to post some of the rapping I think is great, I posted Mural and Marcy Me, 2words said Make Them Pay/Remember better than Hov's rapping on Marcy Me, here we are

Oh, I didn't go that far. Let's let this end then.

    No, you idiot.

You don't randomly reference abortions in a song about your roots and pretend like it carries on a theme about your wife's miscarriage.

Do you know the difference between an abortion and a miscarriage?

You're getting too tied up on the abort part

When Lisa Bonet was Beyoncé of her day, I had divas, y'all
Think I just popped up in this b**** like a fetus? Nah
Pregnant pause, give you some second thoughts

Beyonce -> fetus -> pregnant pause. You don't think this is intentional to reference some of the lyrics on the title track and album?

I be winking through the scope

I haven't pointed out everything on the song. And this is just one 3 minute song, y'all pulling from all over Iceman to say Drake pen better

Where on 4:44 do we have basic bars like "greater than everybody like some shredded cheese", "YM in CA like the village people", "Used to be a nice man now I'm hot and cold", "What kind of man are you? A middle one" ?

I highly doubt Hov still creates his own lyrics , Lupe Fiasco wrote several tracks for "The Black Album" and now Hov is even MORE RICH, which means less chance of him creating his own lyrics.

    silly lines are fun
it doesnt have to be serious

    No, it's not.

I'll explain why when I get back on later.

Very questionable angle to take in defense of Drake, ngl

Read your post and was thinking " wtf is this breh talking about?"

Just googled Kim's second name lol. This brudda Drake is too slick lol, layered enough where there's some plausible deniability too lol
