May 20After a ton of listens, this where I’m at right now:
ICEMAN - Like it a little less overall than I did the first day, still think it’s a great album though. I think the first 12 songs is a damn near flawless 2020s rap album, but it starts to stumble a little bit sequencing-wise in the last third of the album. Drake’s rapping is high quality for most of the album, but there are still a few cringe punchlines scattered throughout the project. The production is S-tier though, definitely the strongest aspect of the album for me. 8/10
MAID OF HONOUR - I feel like this is a genius album. The production is ELITE, the songwriting is incredible, and the features on the album all have super memorable contributions. I really like how the album is structured, where it goes from electro-pop to dancehall to club to new jack swing and pop at the end. Princess might be the most unique song in his entire discography, and I think it closes this album surprisingly well. This is Drake at his pop-best. 9/10
HABIBTI - This one started off the lowest for me, but the more I listen to all three albums, this has been the one to grow on me the most. It’s the most lowkey of all three obviously, and the melodic work on this one is the strongest of the trio. I wish it was a little more traditionally R&B overall like Classic, but I think it’s a pretty good offering of his 2020s R&B sound. 8/10
