I shouldve clarified/thought longer on what i was saying before but

I think my problem comes in where people develop this mindset of kendrick being some singular artist in hiphop thats worth breaking down in this way and sure he has a way with words thats unique to his style and hes checking all these boxes but i just feel like people are weird about it where so many other rappers are talking about s*** thats going on and giving so much material in the music,

like even artists that wouldnt be thought of as "highbrow" and super "lyrical" still provide a lot of social comment just by speaking about whats going on around them, how they feel about s***, comparing the different lifestyles, and so on and so on

Hiphop is so wordy that there is so much there if u just think. and so many dif types of skill sets within the usage of words

Exactly this . They are often dismissive of other artist where if you ran the same through lyrics and songs albums through ai with Kendrick’s voice it would be “ omg it’s genius only Kendrick could do this “ . It’s the idiolazation and obsession of Kendrick himself as a character same as many do with Drake . Both their fanbases share more in common than they realize

I feel he should have expounded on it . I don’t think it’s just guilt . It’s similiar to what SpongeBob said . It’s worshipping of one rapper . Which is what I have been saying . Rather than a love of the craft . Someone who loves art recognizes I’m not involved in this beef I wasn’t involved in Jay Z Nas beef I wasn’t in biggie pac beef . They can break down what an artist does well and what they don’t . They can applaud skill . They have their personal one they gravitate to sure but they don’t fully feed into tribalism to be unable to give any form of props or “ I’m afraid to say I like Drake because it’s uncool and supporting Drake is supporting a pedo “

And you still haven’t pointed out where these people are? Monoculture has been on the decline for ages, there is no one rapper that is worshipped by all, everybody has their own interests

You were absolutely involved in this beef, you were one of the loudest ones who believed every claim made and wanted Drake arrested

If anything YOU were the white kids you’re complaining about, and now you’re over correcting because you’re still upset at Kendrick fans

Nobody in real life is afraid to say they like ANY music, let alone Drake

the thing about critical reception i don't like is that some of it is considered "highbrow" and then you got folks who overly glaze anything "underground" from soundcloud even if it's basically the same pop trap sound just with extra distortion

Are you not reading SpongeBob point saying the same sentiments . I didn’t believe every claim made and want Drake arrested lol . I said if they serious about it or any credible accusations come forward take it to court . I always said it’s unfortunate if beef leads to court but if any victims exist court may help them get justice because pedophilia is a serious accusation that I think it’s sick to use to win a beef same as domestic violence

Kendrick's music panders to white people (left and right) who only believe black people live a very urban, d***-filled, ghetto, hostile, trauma-inducing, life.

It gives no space to the wide spectrum of experiences black people have around the United States, and the world.

Through this narrow box of the black experience, Kendrick flourishes as the poster child of exactly what these kind of what white people expect black people to make music about and talk on

This is the same box Kendrick pointed out that Drake was exploiting and not being a part of

In reality, Drake's music liberates black people because it speaks on the vast kinds of lives they ACTUALLY lead, whilst also uplifting so many regional sounds and artists that get overlooked by mainstream records and radio

    Drake's music is open-minded thinking, Kendrick's is close-minded thinking

So if you're a white person and you really think Kendrick speaks for the entire black experience, that says A LOT about you.

And if you don't get that -- Janice, STFU
