My issue with Kendrick Lamar isn’t as a rapper (though I think he’s boring and 1 dimensional, I do like TPAB) I get people like him and that’s fine.

My issue is he conspired with the record label to undermine the biggest act in his cohort of artists
For what? Out of pure jealousy ? Because the bag was the right amount ? S*** is just so b**** made to me

If they had beefed in good faith I could respect it
But being the pawn for UMG when you’re allegedly this woke pioneer of the culture is p**** to me

My non conspiratorial hot take is the label just ran with the bigger song. If FM had the momentum and fervour that NLU got, the label would’ve ran with that and it would’ve looked like a coordinated anti Kendrick corporate America hit. The label saw the biggest rap hit they’ve had in years coming from their imprint and went full court on it

What do you all think will happen to the snippet where he said he’s still cool with Venus Williams and all Dot’s people are making peanuts?

Kendrick Lamar is rap game Israel

Resisting the urge to post that White house tweet

  • One of my favorite things about Iceman is how triumphant it sounds. Like it sounds like coming out of a thunderstorm i can’t remember the last time I’ve listened to a Drake project where he sounds happy and not brooding or in constant state of paranoia. Maybe since More Life?

Funny enough my cousin got married this weekend and they played NLU which was the first time I had heard it in a grip. Definitely a real hit even though I swear I’m not saying this to hate I don’t think it’s really a good song in the sense of traditional hit (has a lot of quotables though undeniably). Kendrick dropped way better songs during the fiasco than that one. Interesting it’s the one that took off though

People when a music label doesn’t do their job: ā€œhow could you shelve your own artist like that!!!ā€

People when a music label does their job: ā€œhow could you artificially inflate your own artist like that!!!

Label should not play a part in a rap beef. Just like the referees shouldn’t play a part in the nba

Nobody is here to watch yall take over

Nobody can convince me Drake didn’t make 2 Hard 4 The Radio specifically to perform at the next LA show

Been crying because that nigga genre is absolutely gangsta rap/pop

Drake was dropping his s*** on f***ing IG stories and random bullshit he was doing this for the people and for fun

Then the machine saw an opportunity to hit the reset button on rap as a genre because the execs didn’t like how much power and influence young black youth were gaining

Now we have nothing but country and white girl pop running the charts and the radio

I don’t want to discredit Kendrick because he’s likely the second most popular hip hop artist out atm but there definitely was some great synergy between Kendrick fans + people who dislike Drake and a lot of it was not mutually exclusive
