If the tracklist is real then what’s the chances of Asta la vista still making it on streaming somehow

  • once the album comes out we will all look back on this moment and reflect on how we believed that track list is real

I generally agree. For me, once you pass like 17 songs, there is at least 5 or so that could be cut to make it better. Miss the shorter albums from the 90s/2000s but streaming has f***ed that up fr

& obviously there are albums like Madvillainy which is 22 tracks but it's still only 46 minutes

& there's albums like Late Reg, Aquemini, TPAB, Ready To Die etc. which are ~74-78 minutes

Folks gotta know how to strike the balance either way, usually with the longer albums like those 4 there'll be long songs that fill it out & skits incorporated, folks just gotta have that curative precision (near scalpel-esque) to really know where the line between excessive & just enough meat etc. is

    The theory of one album
Then the other album dropping a few hours later starting to make sense

Iceman drops 21 songs or whatever

    Everyone thinks this is it

When people wake up tomorrow disc 2 is out with the rest of the songs

I’m even willing to bet Drake has some archived cheeky posts to go along with it

For anyone interested in doing a discography relisten, this is a schedule that works (for solo projects only):

    4/22 - So Far Gone
    4/24 - Thank Me Later
    4/26 - Take Care
4/28 - Nothing Was the Same
    4/30 - If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
    5/2 - Views
    5/4 - More Life
    5/6 - Scorpion
5/8 - Dark Lane Demo Tapes
    5/10 - Certified Lover Boy
    5/12 - Honestly, Nevermind
5/14 - For All The Dogs
    5/15 - Iceman

    Finished For All The Dogs.

To me, this album is a bit overhated overall by people. I have my issues with it, but there’s some really good stuff on here and a very specific soundscape that is a nice change of pace for a Drake album.

The good: I really love the first three opening tracks, right up until the interlude in Calling For You. Drake’s R&B bag is in rare form on this whole album. Slime You Out, Tried Our Best, Drew A Picasso, Bahamas Promises, and Members Only are all phenomenal. There’s a sense of thematic focus on all of the R&B records on here. Away From Home is the best introspection we’ve gotten from Drake since probably NWTS. IDGAF is the one Drake/Yeat collab that I think sounds good, that beat is just undeniable. Rich Baby Daddy is super fun and the production is great on it. His delivery on 8am in Charlotte is super refreshing.

The bad: Most of the rap songs. This is his first album where it sounds like he’s fully trying to appeal to a younger demographic with the rap cuts, and it doesn’t really work at all. Fear Of Heights and Daylight are forgettable, Another Late Night is whatever but it’s placed awkwardly in the tracklist. The radio concept feels tacked on and half-baked, would’ve liked that to be more fleshed out and present on the entire album. Gently is horrible and doesn’t fit on this project whatsoever. Lyrically, there are a lot of cringe lines and eye-rolling punchlines scattered throughout the album.

As far as the Scary Hours Edition goes, not much to mention really. Evil Ways is pretty dope, You Broke My Heart is cool, but the other four tracks are extremely sleepy and forgettable, and while listening to them you have to question whether they would exist if not for the Joe Budden Podcast.

Overall, the album feels like another mixed bag but leans good overall. Probably my favorite Drake “traditional” studio album since NWTS. Wish it could’ve been trimmed down a tad though. 7/10

    Now, onto the MAIN EVENT…

Notice how any type of “leak” has come from the usual haters. They’re scrambling to come up with any type of “W” before the album drops lol
