Push it was huge when it came out. His debut through to Trilla he was everywhere.
Yeah I’m from the Midwest so I was never a huge fan because I didn’t really connect to it culturally, but I can’t be in denial, nigga was everywhere

I’m in Canada and it was still obvious. I used to be watching the music video channel hoping the video for Push It would come on lol. Young me loved the sound and vibe

That’s another good point, even his videos and the aesthetics were infectious, man, waiting for your favorite music video to come on was such a simpler time

I think putting a number on it is primitive but he definitely had an amazing run, he was the soundtrack for a lot of the hustler culture I was around at the time and is definitely cemented as a legend imo
no doubt, not diminishing anything he’s done but him saying he was number 1 is a stretch is all lol
drake had some of the best lyrical displays in history of rap during the beef
the mike prince flip
white boy flag flip
a minor d major flip
black messiah vanilla cream flip
gm bm bd
these are just off the top of my head one thing i didn't expect even as a fan was for drake to be miles ahead of kendrick as a writer during the beef. and it's even more impressive because he was doing it live under pressure whereas kendrick had most of his material ready to release before the beef started
That’s what was hilarious to me. Kendrick is supposed to be the lyricist yet he had prerecorded disses that was still below tier lyrically compared to Drake’s disses filled with rebuttals. Keep in mind Drake is supposed to be the pop star
I got a lot of love for OVO fam that is 100% behind the boy. Ngl these “I love Drake but I’m honest” mfs make my skin crawl tbh
What year y’all think he could he even be referring to? 2006?
i thought maybe 2012/2013
That s*** is woat man I thought my shi would be impervious to that s***
" I never thought it could happen to me" fr
went off that s*** in less than a month lol
Officer Ricky already copping pleas 😂😂😂
Them niggas was on the Budden podcast arguing about Drake in front of of Top
that was Punch
For anyone interested in doing a discography relisten, this is a schedule that works (for solo projects only):
4/22 - So Far Gone
4/24 - Thank Me Later
4/26 - Take Care
4/28 - Nothing Was the Same
4/30 - If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late
5/2 - Views
5/4 - More Life
5/6 - Scorpion
5/8 - Dark Lane Demo Tapes
5/10 - Certified Lover Boy
5/12 - Honestly, Nevermind
5/14 - For All The Dogs
5/15 - Iceman
Finished Dark Lane Demo Tapes.
A very okay mixtape overall. Compared to his previous stopgap releases, it’s not as tight and sharp as IYRTITL, and it’s not as fun and carefree as More Life. This is the one that definitely feels like it was comprised of a random collection of unreleased material rather than songs that were crafted specifically for the purpose of putting together a project.
With that being said, still some songs I really enjoy on here. Deep Pockets, When To Say When, Desires, From Florida With Love, and War are all dope. Time Flies is one of my favorite songs ever. But the other half of the project I’m just kinda indifferent to. Not You Too, Toosie Slide, D4L, Losses, Demons. All fine songs, but don’t really do too much for me.
Overall, if you just look at this as a demo project (like the name suggests) to hold fans over during the pandemic until CLB was finished, it’s pretty alright, not too great but not too bad either. 6/10
Sidebar (left some beat at the end): I do believe that if he took the best 4-5 songs on here, fleshed them out, and paired them with the best 10 songs on CLB, that could’ve challenged for one of his best projects ever
i fw Ross man but he was never number 1 at any point during his run
its embarrassing because there was a point where his aura was becoming quite tranquil, but then he engaged in beef antics and now literally nobody even listens to him, absolute joke

drake was 2009-2024 so idk what run he had cuz Wayne and Kanye owned everything before that and way way before that was grampa Mathers with his classic threepeat run
Accordingly, I don't think its remotely possible or plausible that he was ever a #1 rapper in the 21st century
anyone trying to purport that as facts is as fraudulent as ross and/or their fake phd
Damn I just got diagnosed like 2 months ago doc put me on strattera it felt life changing first 2 weeks then the side effects kicked in and I fell back on old habits and I was in the dark for a bit. I’m doing better now and the side effects have waned down a bit as well. Kinda wanna try a stimulant like adderall tbh
Highly recommend brother it changed my life. Adderall works way better than vyvanse for me personally tho I know people who prefer it

Ross hate is blasphemous. His prime run with MMG was something else. Elite pen too.
Stan wars make it impossible to like anyone who crossed who u worship.
