The issue is he failed to prove that. His best diss tracks and the most “pure” hip hop ones failed to move the mark. so he had to win with an inflammatory dance track.

I doubt nas would give up on real battling and move to a Club banger then pretend to not be commercial

What track from the beef was the best lyrically

Literally killed the genre even more by furthering the divide and internal separation

I guess someone so outside of what’s actually popular in real life would think this “event” was good for rap

Killed the genre? Yall niggas only listen to what y’all are told to listen to? HipHop is doing great. There are a ton of amazing artists if you go listen to them.

So what if just getting a metro boomin beat and swapping out baby, future or 21 savage doesn’t work anymore. S*** was trash.

And y’all also keep attributing the decline to the beef when it was already an industry trend. The numbers were already going down, including Drake’s who had the largest numbers.

Everyone was running to country to get on that wave including Beyoncé, Post Malone, etc. They weren’t just doing it to do it. They’re more informed than us. There is a cultural shift happening and the labels shifted their priorities.

Who are these people that thought Push Ups was better than euphoria? Where are they now?

Push Ups vs Euphoria isn’t even a real comparison since only like 25% of the track is directed at Kendrick.

At the time it was supposed to be Push Ups vs Like That then Euphoria vs Family Matters but since MTG dropped immediately afterwards it became FM vs MTG

can’t be asked to explain to some self righteous earl fan how Kendrick devolving into some petty annoying “let the party die” character assassin for drake

did nothing for rap outside of a month long argument that helped him get some publicity

self righteous? nigga you're the one demonizing Kendrick just because he beefed with your favorite rapper

the beef was culturally significant regardless of how you feel about it. just because it didn't spawn dozens of #1 making rap artists (what beef did?) doesn't mean the whole thing was unimportant

None of the Drake tracks were directed 100% at Kendrick

Family Matters has entire sections straight at Kendrick. It’s basically different tracks with the length and the beat switches.
