Replay value is the real test of how good music is.
It’s not like film or other mediums. Music’s quality is truly determined by replay value, it’s proof whether the song works or not if u have the desire to return to it. If u return to it a lot it means the artist and producer did something right.
If u say something Is ur fav song or album but barely play it, something is off there
I would say capturing an emotion and translating it to the audience means the artist and producer did something right
By your logic, You’re writing off 10 minute experimental jazz pieces as failures because they’re not Sabrina Carpenter songs

Not recently, hip hop has not been that good the past 10’years or so

Only a handful of good artists and producers, and not even all their stuff has been good
If something is good, when I go back to it. The beat will slap and have the same energy it did when I first listened
But sometimes I’ll hear and realize it’s aged poorly and remember that’s why I haven’t played it in forever lol

Not at all, the opposite actually. Loving music (and any type of art in general) is recognizing that there is a world of creation out there at all times, 99% of it you'll never get the chance to experience, but wanting to explore as much of it as possible while you can
