Rap battles are about taking what’s true about your opponent and hyperbolizing it to where it becomes hurtful or belittling. Drake used the same tactics against Meek and Pusha and even Kendrick with certain lines.
The DV s*** and Dave Free s*** on FM didn’t work at all because it felt like Drake was pulling s*** out of a hat, but the “drop and give me 50” and lines directed at Rocky and Ross worked because they were based in truth
