You're still dependent on such much. You're dependent on software support, you're dependent on the charging connectors being manufactured, you're dependent on replacement batteries being available. And not to mention iPods die everyday. Now you gotta buy a new iPod

I’m not renting anything. I put music on it. It stays there forever. Have used the same 2 chargers for 18 years. What’s a charging connector? Have never had to replace a battery. What software support?

The music may stay there forever but that device certainly won’t be around forever. Whose to say the evil corporation Apple doesn’t send out a signal that bricks all IPods 😳

‼️‼️‼️, the entire music industry and society as a whole exist and gets better because of the division of labor , specialization, and a reliance on each other to produce goods and services. So many people used to be involved in getting an artist or a song from a persons brain to the listeners ear that it’s ridiculous. Streaming collapsed this by allowing you to go directly to the consumer and be organically discovered and a build a following ON YOUR OWN. Streaming REDUCES an artist reliance on a label for marketing or features or a budget. Yes that results in the product being cheaper because it CAN be nearly free to produce. There is 0 risk now. You’re not going to get signed UNTIL you prove you belong or have a song blowing up already. Labels no longer care to invest in you as a long term investment because we can generate money on your CATALOG forever. This makes it seem like there’s a lack of innovation when really it’s a lack of investment and oversaturation the listener doesn’t care if you’re signed or not. Rich or not. Unknown or not. They might like you more actually if you’re broke and relatively early in your career. Anyone can get followers on tik tok and insta. Do a stream. Have a perfect page. Everything is so similar because literally everyone is playing by the exact same rules and it’s easier than ever to find your niche

I’m glad we can talk normally again. My main device I’ve used daily since 2008. No sign of slowing down. Hours per day. Also have multiple backups just in case because people just GIVE them to me.
