Playlisting does matter but people often create their own and can literally modularly control every song they listen to at any point in the day
Music doesnt need to be to be remembered for decades, its something you move on to the next lmao, and it's your fault for not listening to todays artists; theyre trying much more creative and different things. So many great albums come out every month.
man f*** you what is this anti art ass post
$30 for a vinyl sounds like a whole lot more than less than a penny per stream, right?
Sure if all you care about is first week sales. But over the lifetime of the album the streams have the potential to generate much more revenue than physicals. The only thing streaming f***ed up is how long it takes to recoup the money.
If streaming f***ed up the business that bad then music catalogues wouldn’t be such a hot commodity
“Music doesnt need to be to be remembered for decades, its something you move on to the next lmao”
Yes because as you said all this ass music can be created. And we have too much access.
Don’t think there’s too much access you chose to play the song. You chose to sit through it. You choose to not look for the things you want. Can’t blame Spotify or Apple Music or your local basement rapper for that.
What we are arguing about is that even if we are not 100% free, we are many times freer than before in choosing what we want.

Who are today’s artists I should listen to?
What do you mean “something to move on to the next” and that music isn’t supposed to last for decades. You don’t want timeless art?
Streaming has conditioned listeners to see music as background content only. So that’s what is being made
Nothing memorable or challenging.
No incentive for young artists to make truly great s***. So no more stars.
As opposed to radio and cds which were mostly played in the car as actual background music? We have more freedom than ever with music. Common horrible Jim take lol
ok so these are my thoughts. drake gave tv the green light to drop the album cover art but they're not ready for episode 4 and the album drop yet. that's the only perspective that makes sense

CDs were absolutely not that.
As seen by the type of music made in those eras.

Very important point for a long time first week sales were a huge thing streaming gives entire generations the chance to discover your music
CDs were absolutely not that.

So what makes streaming music “background music” and not cds or radio which were the most popular way to listen to music before streaming?
What we are arguing about is that even if we are not 100% free, we are many times freer than before in choosing what we want.
Illusion of choice kid.
It’s like art lovers vs people who watch streamers in here.
nah nah nah, you missed it
they keeping with Cocaine Manziel’s stories and profile pic updates
It’s like art lovers vs people who watch streamers in here.
More like the art lovers who can stream whatever they want vs people who hate new art because they aren’t getting drip fed music and ads through their car stereo anymore lol
Timeless according to whom and what criteria? If I keep listening to that music, it becomes timeless for me, and I dont care what others think and as I said just move on to the next thing there is a lot of good music out there
CDs were absolutely not that.
As seen by the type of music made in those eras.
Are you going to pretend every song made in ANY era was always great? No you just had more curation and people don’t want some journalist or radio host curating their music they wanna do it themselves
man f*** you what is this anti art ass post
The anti-art take imo would be to pretend music has no value if it’s not classic or memorable in 10 years.
It happens on this site all the time. An artist will have a 2 year run and then people will s*** on them for not having a Kanye type career like the 2 years of music they put out that people loved means nothing
