@insertcoolnamehere this is what us Drake stans mean when we say we don't care about quality. As long as there are plenty of good songs on there we will be fine.

i hated Meet Your Padres so I deleted it off $$$. Now it's a better album.

With all due respect, this viewpoint is quite literally a contributor to the downfall of music

is it the downfall of music or the downfall of the album? When you spent money on albums they had to be worth the investment. Switching albums in a record or CD player was a time consuming endeavor so they needed to be consistent. Thus the existence of greatest hits records.

That changes in the digital age.

The idea that there is some sort of inherent value to albums is absurd. They were a marketing gimmick so that music was sold in bulk.

Music is good because it creates an emotional response. Not because Pitchfork and Fantano rates it highly. Not because the next 7 songs on the album were also all good. Not because it has a concept. If you want concepts read a book lmao

An album doesn’t have to have a concept for it to be good

There is an inherent value to albums.

it's funny you in particular as a Weeknd stan act like having a concept in music is impressive. The Weeknd has been making "concept albums" and the second someone asks him to elaborate on his vision, as they have with his tv show and movie, he exposes himself as an utter midwit.

at his core he's a frat boy who think d**** are cool and likes f***ing hot girls who do the same d****, and in the halfassed realm of music that's enough but it means nothing. he has nothing interesting to say.

You do realize just picking a name out of a hat to s*** on doesnt prove your point right? You immediately fold when trying to prove your point and just pivot to an artist the other person may like to justify whatever Drake is being criticized for

How? I am saying: albums are meaningless.

    response: no they aren't.

I explained why I thought differently. I'm waiting for an explanation as to why albums matter.

Albums matter because it is a complete thought for a musician. You can communicate more to an audience in 40 minutes than you can in 3. Albums take the listener on a journey in a way that single songs cannot. That’s why the album experience still matters.

An album that is comprised of random songs that lack cohesion is essentially the same as a film comprised of two hours of random scenes that have no correlation to each other whatsoever, or a television season where each episode is entirely different from one another.

An album is to a song what a novel is to a chapter, what a film is to a scene, and what a television season is to an episode.

You immediately always rush to "well you like kendrick, well you like the weeknd, well you like so and so," when that isnt even the topic at hand. You disliking The Weeknds concept albums doesnt prove that albums are worthless, you just feel that drake is being attacked, so you lash out, when really hes just the topic at hand

  • tease

Drake has to have something that critics will like on here. Which means he has to RAP. He can’t do another year of bullshit critique. He can’t afford ANY missteps.

    Nobody cares about critics man
