Yes, I think the rollout just being so inconsistent has exhausted people

Maybe I’m coping, or maybe I’ve been subjected to his other rollouts and now this type of thing is just normal to me, but I kinda expected this. CLB rollout felt this way, Views absolutely felt this way (at least we got IYRTITL and WATTBA beforehand). I remember being hyped for Views during the 2014 ESPYs and we didn’t get the album until spring of 2016. FATD got announced pre IAAB tour and then felt like it dragged on rollout wise even though we got the album relatively quickly compared to his other work.

Not condoning it, but I’m just not surprised and kinda anticipated the wait tbh. Especially given current circumstances and events with the beef and lawsuit.

I literally have pictures from IAAB tour back in 2023 with bro wearing iceman gear. Obviously at the time we didn’t know it was album related but yeah… wish he would’ve kept the momentum from what did I miss dropping

Makes a lot of sene, I think this album being labeled as his revenge album ā€œexposingā€ everyone didn’t help, and being his first solo album post beef means there will be a microscope on all the hiccups. A smooth rollout would’ve been nice, or at least some heavy hitting songs during the streams, the last song being dog house definitely doesn’t help, and completely abandoning the streams is kind of weird

Not really if one of the singles did what he wanted it to do , the album would be out already lol

I think it's like the fall off for Cole. A lot of Coles lyrics will be about lyrically how he will do x y z but when push came to shove ...yea. Probably second guessing the messaging

I want Iceman to be good I just hope he's over this Jumbotron poppin flow he's doing om every song

this is why I say ultimately, drake landed better than Cole cause Drake really has the right to go at every one.

    Cole literally can’t.

Yeah, that’s definitely not helped that this has been a certified Jared, dj Akademiks, Adin Ross, etc. PR stunt where they prove they know nothing but gain just enough traction for their clout via the red button narrative. No one to blame but drake for that tbh.

drake says the bare minimum then theres entire tweets and articles extrapolating in directions that aren’t even intended. Its infuriating.

When Drake said ā€œlil girls trip, lil photo dumpā€ meaning an IG post. You had guys like ā€œprofessor Skyeā€ on YouTube saying Drake should even write lyrics like ā€œlil girls tripā€ in his records anymore.

And as insular and as stupid as that talking point is, drake is losing the average listener who thinks Drake is tone deaf and doesn’t care about his lyrical presentation to be bulletproof enough to not avoid even the slightest hint of impropriety or reference to a heinous allegation.

Guys like this wont give drake a pass so the least drake could do is WRITE the lyrics down instead of free-styling in a booth and giving p3do-fanatasist bait to discredit him further.

I think its a combination of two things:

    1) Iceman 3 was heavily panned across the board. 1 and 2 had highlights and snippets that at least gave you something to look forward to. 3 on the other hand... That's Just How I Feel and Dog House aren't exactly great album songs (even if they're loosies why would u waste time with them?) and people hyped the episode to be the red button and obv its just Drake being Drake. But it exposed how little these things have been thought out because it feels like all three episodes are Drake throwing things at a wall and seeing what works. What Did I Miss and Supermax are the only standouts from all three streams imo but by the time the album drops WDIM would be half a year old and Supermax is addressing an era I'm not sure he should be super focused on across the project.

    2) Drake fatigue is real. It was real during FATD and it got panned for it, people felt post-views he became a super safe artist and it's true to an extent. He released FATD SH to just rap to prove to people he could still rap but it didn't land because of the low-fi production.

  • Bobby_96

Drake has been a hybrid singer/rapper since So Far Gone.

He always dabbled in both. IYRTITL and Her Loss were the closest he got to doing full rap albums but that's never been his style.

Maybe the pre-Young Money Drake but definitely not the Drake who blew up.

It is what it is. I think Drake just needs to home in on a full concept album with a theme he actually sticks to instead of using as an album cover aesthetic via CLB and FATD.

NWTS too tbh. He sings on it but most of it is rapping.

He needs to find a direction.

Icemans direction this time can't be "well it's Drake"

Because CLB, Some of ML, Scorpion, FATD had this flat vaulty feeling that most of the songs could be swapped out across each album and it be the same project.

CLB imo is probably he best post-Views but even that is clogged with so many average songs, it could have been a good 12-13 song album but he goes to please everyone.

FATD is a s*** version of that with even less standouts, I remember when it dropped and there IDGAF & FPS were the only two big songs.

He has high moments on every post-views album but its muddle with mediocre.

He just needs a change in direction for now. Even $$4U felt samey. That's why I like NOKIA alot, it might feel safe but its different.
